Other teams, when they weren't complaining about the blows inflicted on their bodies and psyche, started to point at West Indies' over-rate, which sometimes crawled along at just 70 a day. Something had to give, and when it did it tilted the balance completely the other way. In 1991, the ICC introduced the "one bouncer per batsman per over" rule in an attempt to end the intimidation, and buck up the over-rates. Flat-track bullies rejoiced but fast bowlers, already condemned to bowling on shirtfronts in most parts of the world, weren't amused, and vociferous protests saw the law amended in 1994 to incorporate two bouncers per over. One-day cricket took much longer to listen to the bowlers' pleas, and it was only in 2001 that once bouncer per over was allowed. OK my mistake but my original question is should this rule be reversed to Earlier one ,means no restrictions on bouncers Also request to mods to please change the name of thread to two bouncer rule

Ask any mod to do so. Anyways, if I'm not wrong then bouncer rule was created because earlier batsman didn't have enough protection. I think rule should be reversed or bowler should be allowed more bouncers (upto 4).

Debatable, BCCI's decision making defies logic, and they might be cautious after the England debacle More than anything, ICC needs sort out pitches, they can't be two faced saying "turners" are bad pitch and penalise the curators, stadiums, boards etc., whilst giving free hand for curators to prepare pitches with super plenty of grass. Either way, both methods are fixing pitches for unfair advantage for home teams. Hence we get run fests in India, SL, UAE, Bangl, Pak.

It was the same ECB, which had imposed a restriciton on the number of close-in fielders during the 1974 india's tour to England. This was driven by the 1971 series loss, where our spinners and Eknath Solkar had wreaked havoc.

All the flak the take is inherent greed of everybody else wanting more money and making them jealous (I know it sounds amateur, but it's true).

Right. England could not handle short pitch stuff, they devised the 2 bouncer rule. They could not handle the spinners, they got the rule for the number of close-in fielders. I think it's high time now, that the other boards should get together and limit the number of foreign players in a team.
