until paki cricketers start making more money and improve their standard of living, they will always be easy targets for bookies. its easy to criticise them and say that they should follow rules, but its not that simple. imagine if you were a paki cricketer in this day and age. you watch cricketers everywhere else in england, australia, etc. making good money, having a nice lifestyle. you look across the border to india and watch their players becoming multimillionaires before they turn 23. you watch cricketers from all over the world making $30,000 a week in the IPL. how would you feel as a professional cricketer? your life isn't any different - you train in the nets, you have the same skill, you work just as hard, if not harder. yet you arent allowed to play at home, your board is poor, you arent given the IPL contract and you make only a fraction of the money they make. this is where crime becomes appealing, and the possibility of easy money is hard to turn down. paki players will never be clean as long as their board remains poor and their players are treated like outcasts. but these problems go beyond cricket.

Completely agree with everything you say. and on top of all that, even if they play the game honestly and don't cheat, the entire cricketing world will continue to look at them with suspicion for many years to come.

Should be drafted back into the team as soon as his ban expires' date=' subject to fitness and form of course.[/quote'] WTF.... He got a lighter sentence because he plead "GUILTY".... He did it.... by his own admission he got sucked in and panicked, but he did it... How can there be any leaniency shown... He broke the cardinal rule and has served part of his sentence (the prison element)... He now needs to cop his whack (the ban) for what he did.... There is no leniancy, he took money to influence a result, how can you down play that.... If this guy is allowed to play for Pakistan again, no result they have good or bad matters... it is tainted by a cheat... Unbelievable.

i used to like this guy.. still think it is bad for cricket that he is banned but he deserves it and probably even after ban he would not play cricket.. and rightly so..its sports its the only thing which is not really influenced which needs to be pure, untained otherwise its meaningless just think about it.. would u allow cheats from other teams to play? even if its harmful to ur own team he should not be allowed to play cos entire essense of sports, criket is that its competitive both teams giving there best and u dont know the result but u know both teams are giving there best.. i relly dont think even after 5 years he would be allowed to play international cricket.. even u guys need to move on and stop thinking abt him as a international prospect and people have already been leniant enough with him from ban to prison sentence he has been shown enough leniency and wont u agree even a kid knows fixing is wrong? and it will get him banned? what happened to national pride? do u really wanna play him in ur side ? seriously?
