Irfan Pathan - Performance watch thread

I happened to watch TEN cricket's program yesterday on Irfan Pathan (I guess program must be 4-5 yrs old) and was amazed at the swing (bringing ball in) this guy got bowling leftarm over to both LH and RH batsman. His pace as usual was in early 120s or even below but his deliveries were quite unplayable (of course they showed wicket taking /good balls in the program but still). Even in 2006 tour to pakistan he had Salman Butt totally out of sort with his slow but deadly outswingers outside off. To me Irfan will always remain the biggest enigma in Indian cricket.

^yeah!!!!....remember his unplayable yorker to gilchrist ,brilliant use of reverse swing to get waugh caught behind and that too in his debut series.when miandad said that a bowler like pathan was found in every alley of pakistan,he made the then yusuf youhana his bunny, getting him out time and again in that series.remember his first over hatrick in the karachi test.Just accentuates the point that such performances against the best were not mere stroke of luck.if anyone's got to be blamed, its Greg chappel _|_.he destroyed pathan's confidence just like he did with zaheer, munaf, sehwag and others.

^ Apart from the few deliveries that you mentioned and the spell he bowled to Michael Clarke in Bangalore in 2004, I really don't remember anything spectacular from him in test matches. We have just fallen in love with him and that's it!!

He is not even a shadow of what he was and time for all of us to move on....He is a turned page and would be remembered as a talent who could have become a second best all-rounder....he was pathetic in challenger tourny.......i would be more than glad to be proved wrong as we need medium pace all-rounders to do well in non sub-continent conditions..... Remember his contributions in 2007 aussie tour with both bowling and batting

Took 3 wickets today vs Madhya Pradesh today on a green track of Vadodara. IK Pathan 11 4 23 3 2.09 Though opposition is not that great but two of his wickets of left hand batsmen were of good deliveries. I didn't notice the pace, so can't comment on that. Needs to improve his performance if he wants a place in Team India.

Irfan Pathan spends the same time recovering his old form as a normal cricketer would spend being in it. Remember the golden period Mohammed Yousuf had during the early 2000s when he’d score 100s with one arm, one leg and one cocked eye.. that’s much how much time Irfan has taken since he was dropped in to get his old mojo back and he still hasn’t done it  The dude is, for all practical purposes, done. Zak probably has a couple of years left in him. Ishant’s the clear 2nd choice quick. Sreesanth is NEVER far away from test contention and the same goes for PK. If that wasn’t bad enough, Yadav and Aaron have come into picture as well. Lets not forget Abhimanyu Mithun as well.

For someone playing a first class match after nearly two years, Irfan bowled decently. Started off with a pace of around 125-126 and once he started to get the swing, reduced pace for a better control. That swing is definitely back which made him lethal even at 127-128 kmph during his prime, the in dippers to right handers, out-swingers angling away we saw everything, though on perhaps the greenest wicket in recent memory. Was rewarded for some very good bowling and the smile was back. hope he gets more wckets, scores runs as well and then keeps on getting better. Needs to remain fit though, an issue which has always hamepred his comeback plans in the last 2-3 years.

And was ignored. Sree is currently a much better bowler than Irfan in international cricket' date=' Irfan is not even on the radar.[/quote'] and you are? At least Pathan is playing Ranji. You have been kicked out of Kerala team and are now spamming on ICF.:cantstop:
