theguyinallblue
do we have only kathak dance to show case to the foreigners... i hate it..when all i see is kathak dance being performed by firangis..... there are so many dance forms....why don't they try other stuffs as well... i liked a dance performance by a famous dancer...forgot her name..it was 4-5 years back.. she narrated the Bal Krishna story through her dance...it was mesmerizing.. Dhondy
Terrific performance by the Japanese lasses! That song would have that delirious effect on just about anybody. It's the sexiest number of the last 10 years!
beetle
What is wrong with kathak sandeep?....it is such a graceful dance form.
theguyinallblue
nothing is wrong..its good and difficult....its just that kathak has become an identity of india..where as there are many dance forms..which are equally good and popular... i have no problems with kathak....but whenever some official functions are help.....kathak is performed.. i mean..they should try to bring some variety... like some tribal dance..or some bengali dance....etc.. CC1981
:marchmellow::congrats::congrats: Btw, Indian culture *is* growing very much overseas- largely because of bollywood. A lot of western audiences don't get bollywood but a lot of non-western audiences LOVE the song-n-dance routine in bollywood. Dubbed hindi movies are more popular in arabia than english movies are ! Infact one of my good buddies- a Lebanese in Canada i met back in middle east- he used to say 'dum-maro-dum' after every other sentence. And so far- kuchipudi's overseas influence is immense from what i've seen too- there are russian professional dancers specialising in Kuchipudi and making a killing doing shows in Moscow/St.Petersburg etc.
