saneindian Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Rankings in Tests are exactly as worthless as in ODIs.I didnt see anyone in India exactly cherishing the moment when we became the test no1 against Sri Lanka. Winning trophies and series are are what that give u moments to cherish.Rankings are pointless. Almost everyone remember when we won the test in Adelaide and draw in Australia. But i havent met many that remember in which series we became test no .1. These rankings are just media generated hype and created a false pride. But i dont find anything exciting in these rankings and i havent met many who find it exciting either. What matters is winning series home or away.Rankings tests or ODIs are pointless. Ya i had the same opinion when we were no.1 too. Have seen the likes of Sachin, Dravid, VVS, Zaheer, Bhajji talk about being no 1 in test rankings as one of their proudest moments as an Indian cricketer. So it surely isn't just about the media hype.
Ultimate_Game Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 And where was the Australian series even discussed on this thread? This is a pretty irritating habit' date=' everytime someone announces, or wishes something good for the team, someone will come with a pessimistic view. Almost as if we dont deserve too much good things. [b']What has the Aussie series to do with our number two ranking? I am simply putting things in perspective. Number 2 ranking is great but more important for us is to have away wins in Aus and SA - the two places where we have never won. These seies wins would be more valuable than ranking spots, just like the WC trophy is akin to being ranked no. 1 in odi rankings.
BeautifulGame Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 What? When you are continously winning trophies and series ,it will show in your ranking as well. Both are interlinked. Similarly when u win ODI series continuosly u will become no.1 ODIs too.Doesnt mean that matters much. May be if we become the undisputed best team in the world like Aussies did then yes being the best team is great and is something to cherish. But being the best or no.1 based on rankings is pointless. And as far as the test when we became no.1 is concerned, most of the Indian fans remember that because one of the most brutal innings in test cricket was played in that game.
Dravid_TheWall Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Once we have our best seam attack playing, onwards and upwards!
Malcolm Merlyn Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 The OP:wall: Panauti ko ban karo thread open karne se.......... OZ tour:((
Dravid_TheWall Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 We will reclaim the no1 spot soon, once our pace spearheads are back. Zak and Sree nurturing the rookie Yadav! Our heavyweight batsmen are regaining form.
Stuge Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 gonna get smacked in aus 2-1 in your dreams :giggle:
King Tendulkar Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 :yay::yay: Perfect Day. Ponting chokes but SA who are number 2 lose and we take over No 2:dance: Now demolish windies 3-0!!!:two_thumbs_up:

Sid Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Similarly when u win ODI series continuosly u will become no.1 ODIs too.Doesnt mean that matters much. May be if we become the undisputed best team in the world like Aussies did then yes being the best team is great and is something to cherish. But being the best or no.1 based on rankings is pointless. Did you read what I wrote earlier in this thread,Rankings dont matter in ODIs.Dont know why you brought ODIs into this.. No.1 ranking in test cricket shows which is the best test side in the world at that moment.Doesnt matter if that team ends up remaining at no.1 for 2 years or a decade.
panther Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Now Now no need to be jealous:haha: p.s we forget to mention we are world champs:yay: and you wont be playing in india
Sarkar Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Losing a series with honesty is ok but losing players straight to the jail and bans is more disgraceful
