King Tendulkar Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 To me after seeing him bat today and bat at oval in odi, Ashwin is a a genuine bat. And a genuine all rounder. He batted superbly at oval in odi with Jadeja. Genuine class and technique on a pitch very different from mumbai pitch. And today looked so elegant and classy. Shows he is not just batting well on this track as done it elsewere. Real ability with bat as used to open batting at junior level. In the fight for number 1 spinner spot with oijha it is even. But Ashwins batting takes him waay ahead. His batting will be much more consistent then bhajis 2 a year explosions, as ashwin is technically sound and has time at crease. He looks a genuine all rounder. Is the search over? Have we found the all rounder all team crave for? I say yes.
vvvslaxman Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Not yet. He has decent technique though to pull out decent innings now and then. I would want him to focus on his bowling not allow batting as a distraction.
King Tendulkar Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 He is definitley capable of averaging near 30 in tests.
amiret Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I will be happy if he bats sensibly and provides some support to the middle order in Test matches. No need for showmanship like harbhajan.
King Tendulkar Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 Withdrawing support from bhajji? You move with the times.
amiret Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 He is not a genuine all rounder. After all he is no kapil Dev batting wise.I doubt he ever will be.
carnish Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 bhajji was crap...never made use of the potential he had
vvvslaxman Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 bhajji was crap...never made use of the potential he had For a tailender Bhajji was above average bat. No doubt.
skindia Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 he has more average than bradman...so u can call him
panther Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 we should also take into consideration the pitch
vvvslaxman Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 we should also take into consideration the pitch Other tailenders are struggling big time.
King Tendulkar Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 superb ton. laxman style:two_thumbs_up:
King Tendulkar Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 we should also take into consideration the pitch Batted really well at oval in same manner.Hence my excitment His fc record and manner of run scoring makes him so exciting
sangrock Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I sincerely hope that his bowling doesn't get affected and he doesn't go the path of Shoaib Malik to try to become a batsman after debuting as an offspinner. Not that that will ever happen as our batting is miles ahead of the padosis :P
King Tendulkar Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 Why is eveyone saying hios bowling will be affected. All players practice their batting now , all the way down to 11. He could be our Vettori
yoda Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 He is going to be our main spinner. I would rather he bats less and reserves his energy for the bowling. Then again given that our Kaptaan is a walking wicket in tests, seems like he will be batting more often than not.
skindia Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Jadeja should be tried at no 6 in tests..he is genuine all rounder....he would have scored triple hundred on same pitch.
