gakgupta Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I have seen occasionally some SL matches against England and Pakistan and felt that a country cannot have a bad captain than him. It was said that "captain is as good as the team" but if country doesn't have right captain team could be good but performances could be pathetic and that's exactly what is happening with srilanka. He is extremely emotional on the field yelling at team mates. When things are not going well, you want the cpatain to encourage rather than shouting at them. I think srilanka has already reached abyssys and their board should quickly fix this and change the captain. I think jaywardene is the right man at this point of time. Once mathews or chandimal is ready, they can pass it on to them. Bottom line: Never seen a captain as bad as him.
ganeshran Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 He is a poor man manager but Lanka's performance is not because of his captaincy alone. Their bowling just doesnt have the sting after Murali left and even the batting looks fragile with Jaya not in flowing touch.
Dravid_TheWall Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Haven't actually seen him captain but his form has gone since being captain, SL have gone down hill all of sudden so he should get the sack. I knew they would struggle in tests due to lack of quality bowlers but now in ODI's too. Dilshan must go but Jayasuriya has just backed him so maybe that will buy time.
Karan114 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 To be honest, I haven't seen enough of Dilshan's captaincy to pass judgment. But Sri Lanka are a struggling team with a poor attack (in Test cricket) and ageing batting line-up - not sure what any captain can do in the circumstances. Besides, Sanga and Mahela don't want to lead because of the political machinations in Lankan cricket.
jairamesh Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Been saying these for ages, Dilshan captaincy is emotionally driven, it works for some teams and players, but more often then not it fails. And he isn't an astute captain esp compared to Santa and jaya. And his drop in form opposed to jaya is bigger loss to SL in ODIs. Better to sack him now and do a Graeme Smith by selecting Angelou Matthews. Murillo loss hasn't been an issue in ODIs, their batting is what has let lankans down
someone Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Don't particularly like a captain who is a opener batsman and yet even opens the bowling and just constantly chooses to bowl himself
Pagalpanti Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 He is not a tactical captain I guess, from viewing one can just say this much. We don't know what goes behind the scenes, there is news that they're not being paid since World cup, whole team morale could be down? He himself is out of form from quite a while now. Their slide since World cup is shocking.
Old guy Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 tests you cant win without good bowling so not his fault one days sri lanka did well in england fought really hard but this series batting is minnow like jayawardene out of form dilshan playing badly, thranga after that steroid inceident does not look 100 percent >.
