actually the very lack of scientific education put back the turkish ottomon empire by a millennium which would eventually spell doom for them. when the library of alexandria, egypt was stormed by the turkish islamic troops in c 500 AD, it is said that a manuscript and plans for construction of a steam engine were amongst the records that were later destroyed in a fire lit to reduce the library to rubble. the steam engine would not be reinvented some thousand years ago. some futurists feel that had this ignominious event, in which we lost over a thousand years of science and research, not occurred, we could have colonized moon by now. hyperbole aside, a society that turns its back on science is doomed without exception.
Scientific progression is too random an event to be influenced by any single act. Even if somebody wrote down in a piece of paper what the inventions of the next 10 years would be, we still cant predict how science would look like in 2050

the law is uniform and unequivocally states that you can have at most one wife at a time. enforcement of this law is another matter.
Not true. All India Muslim personal law supersedes the secular constitution when it comes to marriage , alimony ,divorce etc. Don't forget the famous Shah bano alimony case wherein supreme court was overruled by Rajiv Gandhi government wherein it passed the now infamous Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Divorce) Act,which diluted the secular judgment of the Supreme Court regarding alimony. Also, even now, muslim women can be given talaq (divorce by uttering the word talaq thrice) by her husband although the All India Muslim Board promised to look into this law. In India, a Muslim man can legally have 4 wives without the fear of criminal prosecution as per the All India Muslim personal law whereas the Hindu community is governed by the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, which prohibits polygamy and extra-judicial divorce.

The economic status of a majority of muslims in india is beyond pitiful due to a plethora of reasons, the most prominent of which are exclusion and isolation by the majority hindu community and a lack of a proper scientific education, such declarations can only worsen the divide and thus lead to growth of a resentful minority that has from global observations often resorted to extreme measures.
Premise of thsi paragraph is flagrantly wrong. See in every town in India you will see muslim people live in separate area and it didn't happen over-night. Since islamic rulers shariah law days there was a dictate just like jazyah tax which asked no non-muslim can live in muslim area. So if anyone is to blame it's them for their ghettoisation. It's nto just india look around the world even in this day and age u will see unlike other communityies muslims gravitates towards their own ghetto even in western world. Hindu buddhist don't feel the need of living together in one place in large number say in france or britain but these folks do. After all thsi they have audacity to say they are being excluded by reat of the community and there are people who even buy that argument. So either the whole world is excluding them for some inexplicable reason or they themselves recede in their ghettoised cocoon .

mandrake' date=' that is not my opinion but that of economists and independent bodies. there is no denying that there is a serious amount of discrimination against Muslims in india.[/quote'] Apparently the state where they claim to be most discriminated they are most prosperous more prosperous than their non-muslim counterpart yes I am talking about Gujraat.

I can't say much about these lofty cliams of status of scienitifc advancement which presumably got destoryed but I would most certainly concur on the last line. They not only turned back but they also showed missinary zeal in burning sheet of education in countries they conquered.

Eh ?!? Turkish Islamic troops in 500 AD ? Where is that from ? In 500 AD, there were no turks in the middle east, they were all living in northern central Asia and the turks were either Buddhists or shamanists. 500 CE had no islamic troops in the world either.

False. In the post-medieval period, Ottoman empire is one of the few empires that gets my recognition as one of the best in the world at that time. Turks wernt 'lacking' in scientific education- far from it. They are one of the prime influences for starting the military modernisation of Europe as Turkish military ( particularly the Janissaries and Sipahis of Porte) were the best & most advanced military of its day. The decline of the Ottomans came in the late 1700s, when a powerful and emerging Russian empire threw its weight behind the powerful Hapsburgs (Austrians) and that tipped the balance against the Ottomans. They steadily lost territorry from the gates of Vienna all the way to the south-eastern-most tip of the Balkans. What was the final crushing blow to Turkey at that time was also its string of incompetent emperors, who preferred to drink themselves to death in their harems while the empire decayed. Similar parallels to western Roman empire- outside initiative plus internal mismanagement = doom.

the library was destroyed in 642 AD during one of the several arabic islamic invasions of the city while it was still under the byzantine empire. sorry should have checked the dates. according to wikipedia, "commander Amr ibn al 'Ass the following dilemma: "Touching the books you mention, if what is written in them agrees with the Book of God, they are not required; if it disagrees, they are not desired. Destroy them therefore." wikipedia is known to be notoriously inaccurate on occasions, but run a search for richard dawkins or neil degrass tyson and you can probably find the lecture where they voice the very concern that i stated earlier. and finally, the demise of the islamic empire was due to lack of proper scientific knowledge and thus an inability to keep pace with the rest of the world in commerce, weaponry and organization.

Key word : ARAB. Not Turks. Turks didnt get to middle-east/beyond Persia till the Mongol juggernaut rolled out in the 1200s-1300s.

Boolsheet. it was due to internal mismanagement and combined Russian & Holy Roman Empire's efforts against Turkey, with Venice's fearsome navy coupling in to harass the Turks. It is a fact that the Turks were the most scientifically advanced European/near-eastern civilization till early 1800s (before steam engine). The fact that they had a string of emperors from 1750s to 1850s who were drunks spending years on stretch without stepping outside their palatial harems is undeniable, thus pointing towards internal mismanagement as their biggest cause of demise. Ottoman Turkey was also the only multicultural empire of its day- in a period where multiculralism was anathema to the racist European regimes, hence giving them great success in inciting the Serbs, Croats & Greeks on racial grounds to overthrow the Turks from their lands. The rabid fundamentalist Christian zeal (which was far more fundamentalist than muslim zeal in the pre 1800s era in European/near-east sector) was very helpful to the European cause as well.
