CSK Fan Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Well you have to be human to change after a slap. I know of a certain cricketer who tasted the might of a punjabi hand but is yet to see the evil of his ways

CSK Fan Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 This begs the question. how many times was Bradman slapped? And if he was not, how can he lay claim to being the greatest ever? IMO one slap is equal to at least 25 average points

f.b.m Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Childhood slapping/beating is like astrology: People just remember the hits and forget the misses. I'd like to know how many times kids got beaten and had no changes whatsoever. :hmmmm2:

akshayxyz Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Childhood slapping/beating is like astrology: People just remember the hits and forget the misses. I'd like to know how many times kids got beaten and had no changes whatsoever. :hmmmm2: While there is a bit of truth in this, but it is just a bit - in the current context. No one here is claiming that he (or anyone else who has had such life defining slaps) would not have succeeded otherwise. If not that, there would have been another moment. But as you grow old, the 'slap' (not literally) has to be stronger..e.g. if you are already crossed 20s, then nothing short of a life-death situation will drastically change the course of your life. Also, the astrology analogy - yes I agree, for some it works, and for some it does not - and in retrospect we recall only the cases which worked - however it does not change the fact, the people who have had such life changing 'slaps' would agree on the intense feelings/emotions they went through that moment, and how significantly it changed their perspective and hence the course of life. Let me try an analogy - a river/stream hits a big rock, and is forced to change the course (of course, it is not a conscious move on river's part), making some other region fertile instead of other one ( had it not changed). One would argue that, if not that rock, there would have been next one - but it does not changes the fact which rock actually changed the path. So - it is mere recollection of a fact, than prophecy or something.
