bulbul Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 ....but a batsmen is not allowed a runner? what else is possible ? play with 10 guys ?
Ultimate_Game Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 what else is possible ? play with 10 guys ? I think that should be fair. For example if a batsman or a bowler gets injured, replacement can't bat or bowl for them and neither is a substitute runner provided for the batsman anymore. So why allow a substitute fielder? Let them field with original players and if someone gets injured, too bad.

A team is handicapped if a player can't bat or bowl. So the handicap should be there for fielding as well.

Mariyam Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Isn't Sehwag the Nawab of Najafgarh? Royalty always has preferential treatment. All animals are equal, but some are more equal.
pensionplan Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 ....but a batsmen is not allowed a runner? To me that not allowing the runner part is so dumb as it gets while stuff like this goes on(batsman batting in the first innings gets to choose what they want)and bowlers and fielders allowed to quench their thirst as they please. Some rules do not make sense at all.
ganeshran Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 There is a penalty for bowlers , so there should be a time limit for fielders as well.

Well said Mariyam..Besides we know Veeru doesnt particularly enjoy captaincy. So he got GG to do all the hard work and came just for the presentation ceremony.
carnish Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Exactly my point... had sehwag been fielding first he would have had to be on the field so that he could open the batting... in this case he just sat out the whole 2nd innings.. i guess if a player sits out in the 2nd innings for a certain amount of time he should not be allowed to bat for the same amount of time in the next match which would mean that sehwag should not bat in the 5th ODI...:--D
Mariyam Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Well said Mariyam.. Thanks. :icflove: Besides we know Veeru doesnt particularly enjoy captaincy. So he got GG to do all the hard work and came just for the presentation ceremony. Exactly. Well put. Sehwag knows how to delegate tasks. That's essential to be a good leader. Talking of subs, I'm off for a sub too,a la Sehwag. Chicken Teriyaki is the sub of the day here, on Thursdays.
Holysmoke Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Chicken Teriyaki is the sub of the day here, on Thursdays. Really? I thought Subway had veg subs on tue and thurs as sub of the day.
Pagalpanti Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I remember that they had penalty for this? I remember an instance where Sachin had to come late in the innings as he missed a lot of overs in the field while India bowled. In this case though Sehwag had already batted, but surely it wasn't fair imo. There should be penalties in place for such things.
