For e.g if you start reading Pioneer, you will feel as if our country is doing well only due to BJP rules govts. Almost all papers around the world have some kind of bias towards one party or the other :dontknow: BTW where exactly was this bias showed when all the papers (be it Hindustan Times or ToI or Pioneer or The Hindu or other papers) in the country were showering praises on Team Anna (when all the drama about his anshan was going on) even as its members went on to publicly hurl abuses at members of Parliament and tried to exploit the people's anger towards a corrupt system and tried to blackmail the Parliament to bow down to their whims.

If they backtrack from their resolve, the 24Ž×7 news channels will be deprived of a chance to escape from the bynow boring, five-minutesflat, rocking games in Parliament. So, hopefully, Team Anna will indulge in some deft and intelligent nit-picking to reject the Bill so that the TV-watching nation has some real entertainment, the tricolour-waving activists some outdoor action and Anna a real chance to better his 11-day fasting record that can, to some extent, make up for the national frustration over the delay in SachinÃÔ 100th ton. Since Anna has promised a bigger show if Parliament ÃÇailed to do as he dictates, the Opposition may be tempted to block the Bill to tap its self-proclaimed natural political benefit. Yet, Anna thinking of moving his protest to Mumbai is both disappointing and puzzling, even if the glamour city can offer many possibilities. One disappointment is over a mega political event deserting IndiaÃÔ political capital to check into its financial capital even though it will be silly to overlook the umbilical cord between political power and money power. So far, he has not made that tactical error. Anna opting for Mumbai also means his Delhi fans missing out on the simple winter pleasures of basking under sunny days at Ramlila Grounds, waving the tricolour, feasting on peanuts, garam chaiand occasional TV shots while betting on AnnaÃÔ blood-pressure and glucose levels. One lasting memory of AnnaÃÔ Jantar Mantar fast-I was how a middle-aged mother and her teenage daughter curiously observed the starving crusader from close up with kulfi in their mouth! Mercifully, Team Anna did not insist that Anna choose Hissar, the field of their claimed maiden electoral conquest, as his fast venue a cold spell has this Haryana town in thrall. Yet, AnnaÃÔ resolve to forego his proven ÃÂ¥elhi advantage is a real puzzle. He really owes his two Delhi successes almost entirely to the collective blundering skills of Congress Core Committee and Sonia GandhiÃÔ trusted and typically rootless (a)political managers. Since this lot is quite adept in insulating Gandhi from the rooted and skilful Congress warhorses, AnnaÃÔ chance for a Delhi hat-trick was high. Even though Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan still has the ÃÑolitical potential to gift Anna a Mumbai trophy, this Marathi Gandhian should be wary, given the city is also home to political sharpshooters like Sharad Pawar, Vilasrao Deshmukh and Bal Thackeray, with proven skills in reducing Anna to just a frog in his Ralegan Siddhi well, before the DelhiÃÔ Congress wizards made him into a national star. Look at the Marathi sense of irony in handing the NCP and the Congress a thumping civic poll victory, thereby delivering a slap in the face of Anna, who virtually cheered when Pawar was slapped. One just wonders what will happen if these wily leaders, once again, choose to engage with Anna in their tested ways. The sensible lot might urge Anna to call off his show by declaring the Lokpal Bill as his victory. But every stage show has a ground rule: that a star who ÃÄlicks is made to repeat his act till he eventually fades out or is booted out by bigger stars/shows. The UPA lining up a minority sub-quota and clearing the food security Bill as its bhookh-hatao counter to AnnaÃÔ UPA-hatao plank ahead of assembly polls is a sign that politicians are finally working on countermoves. I don't know where you get these articles from Sachin=god. Having said that, as expected the government's Lok Pal draft is more or less ridiculous. They have retained control over the CBI, which will more or less ensure a status quo on the way investigation works in India. The Lokpal would be a powerless body.

I find Anna's rants irritating.....but I like their collective cause.It is not perfect but it is better than what this bloody sonia,s puppet govt can ever come up with. As long as their fight is against corruption...they have my support.Rest of their causes are their own and I give a damn about them.

The former attorney general seemed baffled by the provision. what is minority in the context of Lokpal? Lokpal is not to generate jobs but to fight corruption. Why is reservation given? It was to ensure that those who have been oppressed for centuries were given a level playing field. In the context of Lokpal, the reservation is completely extraneous. Where is the question of empowering or redressing oppression in the appointments to Lokpal body? he asked. Union minister M Veerappa Moily defended the provision arguing it was not reservation in the strict sense but provision to ensure representation of all sections in the constitutional body: ©¯ven higher judiciary ensures all sections of society are represented in appointments to high courts and the Supreme Court. So, why not make the Lokpal open to representation from all sections? Lawyer Harish Salve, dubbed the quota provision as unconstitutional. A reservation for minorities is unconstitutional. Minority protection in our country is on a different plane, and is not supposed to be achieved through a reservation. He cautioned about the repercussions of the reservation for minorities. Tomorrow there will be a demand for separate electorate?
