Idiots have this idea that, you're only fit if you've have six pack abs and bulging biceps. dummies. I guarantee you that a typical footsoldier in Indian army, who would look malnourished by western standards is fitter than an average 6 foot 200 lb jock in us army i.e. can go on longer patrols while eating less. Also, if you were to compare a US spec ops guy with an average army/marine soldier, you would think the average soldier is in spec ops and the actual spec ops guy is just some average joe picked up from the street. Looking fit doesn't always equate to being fit. If that were the case Salman Khan would be Olympic athlete.
