chainsmoker1985 Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 In a news channel 7.30 bulletin, It is confirmed by Sourav Ganguly that Ishant is injured and 90% will not play in the 1st test and Ashok Dinda, the Bengal fast bowler will go as a replacement or cover for Ishant. This news will be officialy confirmed by BCCI in 24 hours though. It is a big shock for India as already are fast bowling line-up is torn into tatters, with Varun Aaron and Praveen Kumar ruled out due to injury and Zaheer is still striving for his complete fitness. What effect Ishant's injury will have on are chances and is Dinda the right choice? Discuss....

I'd also prefer Irfan Pathan or MS Gony. Atleast, it is not another trundler from Karnataka team i.e. S Aravind coz you never know

The general health and all round fitness levels of this so -called professional sports team is worse than that of a retirement/nursing home. Just calling up random players and hoping they fit in and are of the required standard on the toughest cricket tour is just fail :facepalm:

Needforspeed Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Dinda is definitely the right choice. Hope the team management has sense enough to play him in the first test if Ishant is not playing. He is a far better choice than Irfan, Mithun and Koomar. Some sense from selectors at last if this news is correct.

And if the selectors are smart they will send Irfan...now that would be a true blessing in disguise coz Irfan is in form and he lends balance to the side...we can play our best four bowlers with him in the eleven - Zak.Ummu.Ash.Ojha Dinda shinda should not be sent

He was actually complaining on the news channels that he has played 4 first class games this season in Ranji and he has not seen a single selector. He said that selectors just pick a random guy, thats it
