Something he has achieved innumerable times in his great career. SRT faltered or should I say choked more often than not in chases. Bangalore 2005 comes to mind amongst many others :winky:.

Inshamam is Pak's (in fact whole of cricket's according to pakis) greatesh!t match winnaar yet you could only come up with two match-winning innings from the the top of your head from a career spanned over more than 15 years and 200 innings? :hysterical::hysterical: what more one of them was against Bangladesh of 2003, when even in 2011 they're a disgrace to world cricket :cantstop:

Play that once in a lifetime knock that Viv played in 1984 in the ODI against England or Lara played in that test match in WI against Aus to win or VVS has played more than once. I am not talking about the kind of knock SRT played against England in Chennai in 2008 when he got support from other batsmen (that was a great knock BTW). I think he has played quite a few of those in his career with a few later on in his career. I am talking about the kind of knock he played like against Pak in 1999 in Chennai and came up short. The kind of knock where wickets are falling around him, the opposition is clamping down, but he still has the temperament not only to fight, but also to inspire the tail/other batsmen to stick with him AND WIN. Surely, he has the technique and the temperament to absorb the pressure. After all, IMHO, when in form, he is the technically most compact batsman I have seen. Wonder why he has not played such an innings? Is it just pure coincidence or what? On the 4th day at MCG was one such opportunity, but it was not to be. As a SRT fan, I sure hope I get to see one such knock before he hangs it up. Correct me if I am wrong, but I do not recall him playing such a knock.

IMO you are clubbing the outcome of an event that has necessary dependency on many factors one of which is a Sachin knock. Lemme explain. If Y = India wins a deadly game that coulda been lost. For this Y, it's Y= F(x's) would be x1 = Sachin stays till the end and is maincontributor x2 = other top order fails x3 = (not necessary but good influence this factor can have) one other guy to bat like Mongia during 136 x4 = (not necessary if x3 hangs on till end) at least one more of the ten batsman not to get out till the final run is scored. To avoid pedantic stuff, of course the list of x's is not complete You see, there are enough instances of Y where x1 was the chief influencor. And there are enough instances when Y happened even with x1 being chief influencor and x2 not occuring. Also there are enough instances where Y has occurred without x1. However, for Y to occur it requires the coming together of at least one more x along with x1. X1 cannot, I mean it is beyond the realm of possibility in cricket as a game, to influence Y 100%. I think yours is a wish for an uncontrollable thing to occur. But as others have pointed out there have been times when the Y (India wins but coulda lost it bad) has been done in the past just that right now your mind dunn wanna entertain those knocks as equivalent to the one you desire.
