Will India continue playing Test cricket?

the bcci has already set out on the road to demolish test cricket. the stance against drs when the whole world can see it only benefits the game being the first strong signal that they could really careless about tests. there is not one single player who you can say from the current youngsters that will make 5000 test runs. aus and sa care about it, but not as much as england. in 10 years time i can see international test cricket completely gone, and instead there will be a test cricket franchise league in england over the summer where players from around the world will come and play for a few months. the rest of the time it will be odis and t20s galore. test cricket is too long and slow to keep up with the pace of this modern world , and is in the process of being exterminated.
LOL at the doomsday conspiracies about Test cricket after our poor performance :haha:

By contrast the minnows we beat in the past few seasons include a full strength Aussie team' date=' full strength England and a full strength Lanka team .. all away from home. Hope that puts things into perspective mate.[/quote'] i love how india's recent struggles have infused pakis like this guy with a new sense of bravery, even though the paki team is still as **** as it always was. talking about perspective, here are some of pakistan's scores in england: 80 all out, 72 all out, 74 all out...:giggle: iwon't even get started on the sub 200 scores. not to mention how they gave a six wicket haul to a part time bowler like marcus north. no matter how over the hill india might be, they would never sink low enough to get bowled out for under 100 three times. and let's not forget your history of 3-0 whitewashes and 12 consecutive test defeats to australia. i bet you werent even born the last time phakistan won a test match in australia. how is that for a bit of 'perspective', MATE?? btw, nobody here says 'mate'. you must be a fresh off the boat immigrant that just got his taxi driver's license.

Really dude? Is it anatomically impossible for you to sound normal when debating with people? As far as I can tell he made a cricketing a point. If you don't agree with it, respond to him in kind. Whats the effin need to go all racial? And if that isnt enough you have the balls to say some of the unpleasant things about Dravid. Put a lid on it dude, it aint funny anymore.

Thanks for the concern, but I think you have bigger issues to deal with than be worried about ego boosts for strangers on the internet. I guess some people dont understand the language of courtesy.

Listen Mr.Hothead - I did not ask for advice, I do not need it either. So you can keep your words of wisdom to yourself. We will see how much longer you will continue to embarrass yourself.

Lulz. 'Permission of superiors'... Great powers of imagination! I told you my highness I will let you embarrass yourself for a while and then ban you. I think that sounds way more fun.

Reminds me of Bhajji and Gambhir in "Have I made it large" commercial.

There is no way Test Cricket is dead. If India decide to not play tests any more, that will be a call for the BCCI. Test cricket was around for many (and I mean MANY) more years before India joined the game. There are a number of long historical traditions and series that are so much larger than India in cricket such as the Ashes for one. I can't see India leaving test cricket but if it does leave in preference for ODIs and the 'hit and giggle' stuff (sorry T20) then ok. Some elements of Indian cricket over estimate its importance in the game. India needs crisket and the rest of the world associations (i.e. Aus, Eng, Pak, WI, SA etc). Those associations don't need India to continue the game in any of its forms. It existed before India and if the decision of India is to go (again that wont happen), the game will go on.

i never said anything about india quitting test cricket and test cricket dying. i was questioning the amount of test cricket india will be playing in the long term. there is an economic reality that is impossible to ignore - namely, the amount of money that gets made from IPL and ODI cricket. for india - there is very little incentive to keep test cricket going, especially if the team isnt doing well, if future generations don't care about playing test cricket and if the eyeballs start to move elsewhere.

Who said you di say that, not me. My response was to another on this thread who did make the prediction of the demise of test cricket and/or the BCCI's part in the strategy to end it. On the rest, see what I have already said about test cricket involving anyone else but India.

Happens when the team you support lets you down big time, time and again. I can bet most of ICFers are walking around grumpily at the moment :winky:
