Manny_Pacquiao Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 i am talking long term here. our test team blows. and once the old guys (who made our test team what it is...or rather, was) retire, then we'll be left with the kohlis and rainas that are fish out of water in the longer version. so expect losses in almost every series. both home and away. on the bright side, the odi team is fantastic. our odi team is properly managed, has a bright future with quality young players coming up. our 2nd string smashes other teams' full strength sides. we can realistically think about defending the 2015 world cup. our t20 side has been ****, but future generations aspiring to become IPL players will ensure that india develops a good t20 side. as of now, i would still back india to make the semis in the next world t20 played in bangaldesh. so is there any reason for the BCCI to have a long term focus on test cricket? schedule fewer games, prioritise the formats we are very good at. in terms of money, i'm sure ODI and t20 are far bigger money spinners anyway. i guess what i am asking is, will india even play test cricket 10 years from now??

It will be only England vs England A for 5 day matches. :--D to be fair, them, australi and SA take test cricket seriously. its the old boys club. they will always like test cricket. the subcontinent sides are fading. they are the ones big on the limited overs stuff. we could see a breakaway in the international cricket scene in about 10 years time.

Is going to put in the hard yards to become a decent test player when a 3 hour game pays a lifetime of an income to Indian cricketers. Like I said, only idiots in India will continue to aspire to play specifically for Tests. Change the rumernation for Indian Test players.

He first came onto scene inTest cricket vs the Aussie and looked a future test opener with a potential of 45plus average. But then India won the T20 wc and IPL happened. Murli's priority changed, and ever since then his first class record has gone downhill whilst he earns mega bucks slogging it out for CSK. Expect the likes Yadav and Varun to take it easy once they secure massive 500k contracts in the IPL, which won't be hard considering the lack of decent Indian pace bowlers.
