jhakati Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 VVS all the way. Remind me of a decent innings by YK against Aus or SA again? none, cos younis khan is crap against quality pace bowling, that's a known fact.
Pagalpanti Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Another comparison thread.. Anyway for the sake of it... VVS 281 > Any innings by YK.
div Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 OP can you poast Laxman the lizard's numbers OUTSIDE Asia? Thanks in advance Out side Asia Laxman-59 tests No use Khan-26 tests
ganeshran Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Nope. Certainly not yet. So the mark of greater player can be something more than the 4th inning average against 6 teams?
Pak_Fan_4_Eva Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 none' date=' cos younis khan is crap against quality pace bowling, that's a known fact.[/quote'] You ought to do your homework more often :winky: Pull up some of YK's recent performances against South Africa. The greatest bowling team in the last 3-4 years
zep1706 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Another comparison thread.. Anyway for the sake of it... VVS 281 > Any innings by YK. VVS 281> any innings, period.
Pak_Fan_4_Eva Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 So the mark of greater player can be something more than the 4th inning average against 6 teams? Overall career average, Record outside of home. Yeah
div Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Overall career average' date=' Record outside of home. Yeah[/quote'] So Dravid is better than Lara ?
ganeshran Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Overall career average' date=' Record outside of home. Yeah[/quote'] Since the comparison involving an Indian player is clouding your judgement, lets pick a Pakistani player instead and use the same "statistics" to compare the both. Once you concede that YK > Inzi , then we will move on to the laxman comparison Inzi : Career average 49. YK : 53 Inzi 4th innings average against non minnows: 32 YK 4th innings average against non minnows: 60 Inzi away average: 49 YK away average : 51
Pak_Fan_4_Eva Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Inzi spent half of his career playing against the best during the 90's. Both are on level field in that case. But yes, YK is more mentally tough than Inzamam.

Pak_Fan_4_Eva Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Laxman also scored heavily against by far the most dominant team of his era. YK averages in the 30s against them. Younis's resurgence began in 2005 under Woolmer. He never played against the Aussies since. Secondly, YK averages more against England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and India (replace with Pakistan in Laxman's case). The point I'm making is that Laxman may have some amazing back-to-the-wall innings to his credit but Younis is a much better and more dependable batsman.

No he is not, and going to statsguru and applying filters upon filters to prove it doesnt make it true either. YK is a wonderful player of spin bowling and is quite composed at the crease. But Laxman is a class apart, notwithstanding his recent run of poor performances. Almost every point you make can be made in the comparison of YK and Inzi to show that YK was the better bat, which he wasnt.
zen Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Younis Khan over VVS anyday. Excluding minnows (BD, Zim) for both players, YK averages almost 60 in the 4th innings of a Test match compared to 41 for VVS. What "mental toughness"?:giggle: That alone is enough for him to be termed a greater player. And I haven't even started on Younis's career average yet:haha: For your reference: Imran > Richards Dil Dil Pakistan
adi B Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 cant compare younis khan and vvs...laxman has played many more matched than younis outside sc nd done far better , younis on the other hand is a better ftb than laxman... 1 cant really compare both on basis of average or 100s, bcoz younis comes 1 down nd lxman comes 3rd down (mostly camw 4th down, when dada was there), so their roles in the side is completely differnt nd the batting line up is differnet, so please dont compare them, both are good in their own respective roles
