You always need to prepare for the worst. I can always see him failing him in swinging conditions, be it at any position. So, what's the point of persisting with him? This whole arguement of him being a game changer and a special player and hence having the license to play sh!t is dragged too much. IMO, 50-2 or 10-2, any new youngster has FAR more chances of doing well than Sehwag. He was always a hand-eye player and the slow reflexes does not help him a wee bit.

Also, if you notice, in that innigs, he scored a lot of runs down the ground by getting to the pitch of the deliveries, which is unlike now, where he prefers to stay outside the line of the ball. If your suggestion to have him in the middle order is for SC conditions, then it does not mean much as either ways, he would always score heavily in SC even as an opener. But, he does leave a lot to be desrired when it comes to playing abroad.

Now they will play on the home pitches make runs and all will be forgotten. We are the biggest fools, we have been taken for a ride by these people and they still continue to hang on to past glories, and even our past glories aren't much to write about.

Even in Australia the ball didnt swing always Sydney was an absolute belter after the initial overs.Same with Adelaide now.Even in Melbourne after first 15 overs the ball stopped swinging.Remember the 100+ partnership btw Sachin and Dravid. The only test in the series the ball swing consistently was in Perth which it always happens.Dont confuse our rubbish batting with pitches being helpful.Most of the pitches in this series were very good for batting after the initial few overs. So Sehwag at 4 would have made far more telling contribution than opening the batting.Also we would score far more runs with him batting btw 20-80 overs (when the 2nd new ball will be taken) rather than anyone else. So Sehwag would be whole lot different batsmen coming in at no.4 home or away than as an opener.Because he is a natural middle order batsmen not an opener. The fact that he succeed as an opener with good success just shows how talented a player he is.He would have been far more successful if he was played in his natural middle order position which he deserved.he was unfortunately sacrified in the name of team.He deserves a run in the middle order more than anyone else both based on his abiility and his performance for India throughout his career.Its not his fault he is exposed as an opener. Seriously how many middle order players do u ever seen succeed as a successful opener in test cricket history?

Tendulkar_Bhai Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 His lack of feet movement means when he is not seeing the ball well enough and its swinging out he will get out, he does not have the technique of someone like Mukund to grind out a score and even Cowan even though he doesnt look like a good player he still v slowly scores runs. I would drop him from the test side completely and have him come down the order if there are many injuries.
