prashsenga Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Firstly i respect the contributions made by the big 3 and revere them for all the Joy that they have given us over the lat decade. Before i start let me confess that i am a bigger dravid fan. Now coming to the point. We have come to realization that VVS laxman's time is up and his single digit scores this test made matters worse.. Now everyone has started to harp on Dravid's retirement because he is getting bowled too often which is not his wont and is indication of a weakness.. fair enough point. But why is the same yardstick that is used for dravid or Laxman not used on sachin. He is looking good , fair enough, but he is also finding unique ways to get out. doesn't that indicate weakness rather weakness'es because there are multiple ways to get him out as compared to dravid to whom you just would need to bowl extremely full with full speed. We can give seniors leeway for 3-4 tests at a tro. but 14 innings is no Joke. If someone says Dravid has to retire i would say , so does sachin too.. compare stats of last 10 tests( 4 england, 3 WI , 3 australia) Sachin 740 runs 0 100s 6 50s avg 38.9 Dravid 948 runs 4 100s 3 50s avg 55.76 In this series sachin has scored 249 while dravid 168.. Now would you ask someone who averages 17 runs more per innings to retire just because another one has to hit 100 tons ?? what is the purpose of scahin playing ODIs... i seriously had respect for him.. but playing ODIs.. if this is not for records what else is.. if it is for the love of the game.. then play Ranji... we need to build the team for the next WC... and by having sachin play ODIs we are seriously robbing the chance of one of our WC 2015 ODI player to get a year of experience.. If by form seniors have to retire its gotta be laxman .. sachin ... dravid... If its by age.. still it would be laxman..sachin..dravid..B->B-> i honestly dont see the purpose of sachin playing ODIs.. if it were tests , then i would see him play a max of one series more than dravid just because we dont want the test team to suddenly field just youngsters... But playing ODIs robbing the chance of one deserving youngster .. man you lost my respect... The ultimate aim of ODIs is to build a team for WC according to my books.. if that is not the aim of our board god save us fans..(:(((

prashsenga Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 One is a god' date=' others mere mortals[/quote'] Why is God not saving us from the humiliation.. that makes him mortal too..
koolkarts Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 This thread is full of manipulative bullshit. Why select only the last 10 tests you moron? Look at the last 3 years, maybe then Dravid's record will wane compared to Tendulkar's. I love Dravid and everything, I think he's one of the greatest of recent times, but you can't compare him to the Little Master, it's unfair on Dravid, because there is no comparison.
Ultimate_Game Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 One is a god' date=' others mere mortals[/quote'] God who gets his @$$ handed out to him. He's not better than Kallis and probably in the same league as Lara and Ponting. At least Ponting raises his game for the big moments like WC final.... wish we could say the same about the "God"

saneindian Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Maybe because he has been the teams best batsman in the last 3 years before the England series? And also because he is the fittest and most athletic out of the three. Dravid looks the fittest, but his slip catching is a liability and he cannot field in the deep, ditto with VVS. Your point about the ODIs is correct though. Its a waste of a spot which could have gone to a youngster. In the last 12 months, he hasn't played ODIs in SA, WI, Eng and at home vs WI and Eng. Can't understand why he has to play the ODIs now.
Ultimate_Game Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 People like you really need to be lined up' date=' blindfolded and shot dead.[/quote'] Wow! Shot dead :hysterical: Yeah sure... now you can go ahead and start praying to the "God" or maybe construct a temple for him :haha: Maybe that will help him get better than Ponting & Kallis :giggle:
master22 Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Were u sleeping from 2007 to 2010 when dravid was not scoring that many runs. Not that i want sachin to retire, but when you want someone to retire you don't look at what he did in the past 3 years or 10 years ,it should be based on what the player did in the past 3 to 4 series.

Andrew Peter Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 This preparation excuse sounds like we have a world cup next year. No1 starts preparing for a damn tournament 3 years in advance . He will do better in the tournament than any other Indian batsmen which is enough. Dum hai toh Performance karke nikaalo usko team se instead of giving sissy excuses of building up a team for wc which is still more than 3 years away .
saneindian Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 he is playing in ODI becuase as a plan B for missing a cerytain 100 in nxt match Have a feeling he will ask not to play the ODIs irrespective of that 100 being scored/not scored at Adelaide.
Number Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 We need at least one experienced man in the middle order. A team full of youngsters will be as bad as a team full of oldies IMO. Sachin can at least field and run b/w the wickets .. other 2 are **** fielders and runners. He appears to be in a better touch. I just have a feeling he still have a lot to offer its just a matter of one big innings. Should not be in the ODIs team though.
Ultimate_Game Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Have a feeling he will ask not to play the ODIs irrespective of that 100 being scored/not scored at Adelaide. He should. No point in him continuing to play odis as he is the best odi batsman ever statistically. There's nothing for him to prove in the odis.
bulbul Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Were u sleeping from 2007 to 2010 when dravid was not scoring that many runs. even Sachin lost form before 2007 but never got threatened for his place. At end of day whats the benefit of a 39 year old continuing in team when team lost 2 major tours pathetically...what benefit it will do for tesm in future.. Also do u really think we will goiong to miss his performance in a series against NZ in india :dontknow:

Also do u really think we will goiong to miss his performance in a series against NZ in india :dontknow: Spot on. There comes a time when everyone gets old and it's time to look to the future. Our next overseas test is nearly 2 years out. What's the point in continuing with him when he wouldn't last that long and Indian youngsters would be able to handle themselves in India.

Achchaji, so why did he not play the previous few series? Jab marzi hui team mein aa gaye, combination bigaad diya, jab marzi hui mana kar diya? He has hardly played an entire ODI series outside Asia since the last CB series and the team has more or less performed decently. Why the sudden urge to play these ODIs.
