Other option could have been- Let them play in the IPL and gain some experience. Jut put a limit to their earnings. This would have a better decision. BCCI can definitely take this step. Also I think u-21 is a bit higher age limit. It should have been u-19 or even U-20 would do but U-21 is a bit higher(given the fact that many youngsters paper age is different from their actual age and all local boards knows about this fact)

Success and money go hand in hand. If a personnel is feeling satisfied with his life and his pocket, then he will give his more than 100% to whatever work he is doing. Uska dil tabhi lagega kaam me agar wo khush hai. So, they should not stop them from earning money with such a good opportunity, they can just put a limit to their earning. Also keep in mind, playing with international superstars, encourages them to put extra effort

Test cricket is the ultimate format but nobody should put a gun over someone's head and force them to play in it or even aspire to play for the test team. Firstly, very few cricketers actually get to represent India at the national level in tests. What about others who never make it ? Secondly, not every one has to love test cricket just because its the best format. It depends on the individual's preference and if they want to play IPL, that's just their choice. Its stupid to ban players from playing in a certain format and it will only make players from the state migrate to other teams. Recently, it has become somewhat of a fashion for some people to make fun of anyone who likes T20 and IPL and pretend as though they are the connoisseurs of cricket by showing a keen interest in test match format even though they dont watch the matches themselves. Let's face it. Very few people watch tests. Who in their right mind quits college or their job to watch a game which lasts 5 days and may end up in a dull draw ? There is no money to be made for the boards because there is no revenue from advertisers. So for the boards to organize test matches, T20 and IPL is a necessity.

I do it and I am sure many others do it. May be you don't do it so you look at the things in a different way. I have the tendency to always find something interesting in an international cricket match whether its test or one day

PCA ftw. @NareshK: PCA isn't forcing anybody. They'd just have to leave PCA if they want to go into the bidding list. If they have the skills to back up and fetch a price and they think their future is in T20 then obviously they should leave. But Test mentality in youngsters needs to be protected.
