vishalvirsingh Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 what do u guys have to say on this ?? the root cause of the failure is that the batsman dont get such pitches back in INDIA....if we had these kind of pitches in INDIA , i am sure we would be producing the batsman who would play well n score well........... i sincerely feel that BCCI will need to look into this sincerely else we will have another clean white eash again....who knows we loose 4-0 to australia and pls note a 4-0 white wash is humiliating - its scary not just to players who loose their confidence but also to FANS like us. i beleive that batters are not at fault and its the BCCI who needs to take the right decisions......make green fast tracks instead of making spinning tracks and only creating batters who play spinners well......we have a gambhir , pathan and even a no 7 or no 8 batsmen of any state team who can play spinners well but thats not the case agains t genuine pace bowling.

Domestic, yes. But not internationals. I never see England or Australia preparing dust bowls in their country. By the way, in the Ranjis it's the home team that prepares the track and not BCCI. The track is prepared according to the strengths of the home team and not every track is a flat track either. The home-and-away advantages work fulltime there.
NareshK Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 More importantly Indian youngsters have to play in Eng county cricket or domestic season in Aus or SA every year. How can they compete with Aus/Eng/SA in their conditions without enough experience of playing there ? Just one emerging players tournament doesnt cut it and neither does playing directly in the test team as we found out with Kohli and Raina. They will struggle and the team will end up suffering humiliating losses. If they prefer to play IPL during that time, then they dont deserve a test place.
Needforspeed Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 More importantly Indian youngsters have to play in Eng county cricket or domestic season in Aus or SA every year. Everyone talks about county cricket. Is it that easy? I think English counties play only a limited number of overseas cricketers and that too based on team requirement, i.e. the players provide some value addition compared to the local players. The best that Indian fringe Indian players can hope is to play in the English Club cricket. Same thing goes for Aus & SA.
ganeshran Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 You play to your strengths, and that is spin. However domestic match pitches should be mix of both greentops and turners so batsmen get tested in all conditions

However domestic match pitches should be mix of both greentops and turners so batsmen get tested in all conditions You are right ...unfortunately domestic pitches are also prepared based on the home team's strengths. So if the hosting team has good batting line -up, they prepare flat wickets and if spin is their strength, dustbowls. I dont think BCCI will do much about it else they will have problems at election time. Hopefully at least, teams with good pace bowlers will prepare greentops.
Pagalpanti Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Why should we create green tracks at home? Rather BCCI should send A teams, U19 teams to tour there, whatever the curators do they can never replicate the pitch exactly and at home we should prepare pitches to our strength.
saneindian Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Lets welcome Eng, Aus and SA with greentracks and gift wins to them. We should stick to our strength at home. As for the deficiencies in our cricket, the key lies in more India A tours, more exposure to our younger players of playing in alien conditions and ensuring our academies are functional and doing their job. Also if pitches alone could lead to improved batsmen, northern states like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi etc should have the most technically gifted batsmen as pitches for domestic matches in the winter in those parts are bowler friendly. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case.

saneindian Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 he Pitches in OZ are not prepared to suit their bolwers only...other wise how should England beat them 3-1 last time... The same could be said of the turning tracks in India as well, right?
bharat297 Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 The point is not to just prepare green tracks. The point is to prepare a variety of tracks in domestic cricket so we can judge players on that. Every track should have something for everyone.

Every track should have something for everyone. The pitches should have bounce. Bounce is the only factor that aids pacers, spinners and batsmen as well as they get good value for shots.

Teams with good pace bowlers and not-so-good spinners usually prepare greentops. Delhi and Bengal do it all the time (nowadays). The whole Ranji system is very well explained (with its pros and cons) in Akash Chopra's 'Beyond the Blues'.

Live with it. It's going to be a way of life for all young cricketers in the world. Phil Hughes skipped the Big Bash and will have another county season. Let's see whether that turns him into a giant player.
India-KXIP fan Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 NO WAY! Look at England's performance today. It is our strength these pitches if you change them for domestic even that will have an affect on styles of future generations. We just need talented players playing overseas (county cricket etc). By the way all countries have domestic T20 leagues they don't change much.Facing 20-30 deliveries in a T20 game is like slogging at the end of ODIs doesnt change technique permanently.

Dear saneindian, do u mean that we should play this musical chair that we beat them every time on a spinning track and feel elated...........and they beat us on a green track.......if we wanna consider ourselves good we shud know to bat on btoh track

AT least indian domestic pitches shud be played on real Green tracks which have good bounce as that wud get our run machines ( batters) to work hard. even on cross maidan and azaad maidan during our 25 over club matches , i feel the tracks are too dead and i end up getting OUT only because I am tired .......this is the situation in India some times Our batters get themselves OUT..bowlers dont get them OUT, where as IN green tracks its the other way around. we need to give our batters some stern test

To have a bouncy pitch, you need to get red soil and lay it on the pitch. Most local associations don't really care about that, and they're the ones who own the stadiums and the pitches. For eg. a few years back the Delhi Cricket Board had imported red soil from New Zealand to prepare tracks and that is because they had Nehra, Ishant Sharma and Pradeep Sangwan in their ranks and no spinner of note. b) Secondly, state associations who have good FTBs but poor bowlers will never create a green track foolishly. They'll create roads to score as many runs as possible and put the opposition under pressure so that they can get the first innings lead. c) The inter-state competitions are as intense (for the people running those competitions) as international cricket. Lots of jobs and careers are on the line, and everyone wants to create situations to the best of their advantages. No one will ever want their 'batters to be put under a stern test' pointlessly.
