Making sambhar is definitely more complex task. Tandoori chicken to main bhi bana leta hoon :cantstop: Sambhar mein dhai sau tarah ki sabjiyaan dalti hain :hatsoff:

This is quite true. Going off topic here, but still... Sambhar's origin is in amti (tuar dal soup) which comes from the Maratha kitchen and is named after Sambhaji.. hence the name sambhar. The great Marathas once ruled parts of south India and left their legacy not only on the cuisine, but also the architecture found there.
Jai Maharastra. :hatsoff: Lekin Marathis should stop putting aam-choor in sambhar. Sucks gloriously! Imlee (tamarind) only FTW!

^ I have never had amti with aam choor in it.. always with Kokum or tamarind, and then variations with different masalas like goda masala. :)

Kokum is a fruit found in the coastal areas esp on the kOnkan strip..imparts a sour taste like tamarind..it's delicious when combined with coconut milk and has. Good medicinal properties

Whatever the case may be, most successful females athletes have come from Kerala. We really should be discussing kanji, kappa, ericheri, kaalan, kootaan, puttu-kadalaa, meen kerry and such. Sambar is largely irrelevant to the bigger picture, even given that Anuradha V is most likely a Tamilian. So, JayaKeralam!!

Great with dal. My Gujarati (from Kuch, actually) roommate introduced it to me in grad school. My Maharashtrian M-I-L uses it in dals and such, too.

Why didnt it make any difference to SachDan then? :secret: Seriously though, for a state the size that Kerela is, it packs a super punch to the rest of the nation. High literacy, possibly most riches in Asian Games circuit, low crimes etc. Very beautiful state, quite clean too..or atleast was back when. :hatsoff::hatsoff:

Only in ICF, we could have a debate on the sub-atomic particles that were recently discovered to be traveling faster than the speed of light and it would inevitably end up in sambar/idli/lungi references.

Lagta hai aap (bhi) raat ko Sun TV dekhte the..:winky:
:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Actually yeah...:nervous: That reminds me of the Malad and Andheri days. Cable boom had just happened and late nights were awesome. Speaking of which, late nights movies on Doordarshan were awesome too. Man they were so soft-porn but boy kya majaa tha chup-chupke dekhne mein. My Mom used to wonder ke yeh har Wednesday(or whatever it was) itni raat living room mein kya parhai karta hai.. So thats my derailing thread for the day act
