Not out of depression' date=' but many times - when I am peaking over an edge/railing at a height - I get this temptation of jumping. As if some inner voice is calling me, come on try it. :)[/quote'] The problem is that people who aren't well think about it 24-7. They can't sleep cuz their brain is suggesting millions of ways to kill themselves. It's so fascinating to imagine your suicide for a mental patient. It pulls you and you think about it, plan it and execute it in your head many times everyday. Well this is just one issue which comes with depression and frankly this isn't as tough to deal with as some of the other feelings one experiences during depression I better stop contributing to this thread, it's reminding me of everything a patient goes through for years, decades n sometimes a lifetime

w/o actually having experienced exactly what you went through - still, allow me to say, I understand what you mean. As I have had my share of depressing phases, but luckily it never reached that state of "constant feeling to jump/die". May be I am lucky, or wired differently or just can't relate to your situation - whenever I felt lowest, either I became more and more laid-back, or just was able to shut-down/divert my thought process ..........so far.

I don't think Akshay is an adrenaline junkie. I love extreme sports - sky diving/base jumping etc
yea. I am no junkie. In fact, even on roller coasters I stay very quiet. Closest junkie kind of thing I have done is - when Delhi-Noida-Delhi toll road was new, I tried to max-out the speed of my Maruti-Zen. It took couple of weeks of optimization and experimentation, as the stretch from entry to toll gate was just 4 km or so, Maruti's acceleration wasn't too good - so accelerating Maruti-Zen to max and then stopping within 4 km was a challenge that time. and road wasn't straight either.

Depression is constantly feeling sad for no particular reason for more 10 days or something like that. Plus depression comes with body aches, sleep problems and is mostly accompanied by anxiety. Also you are right people can have different intensities of depression.
