Laaloo Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Our batsmen's pathetic performance shouldnt overshadow ZAK's performance. Apart from the first match where he picked up the wickets of cowlashers like Marsh and Cowan, he was a pedestrian. Hardly showed up when it mattered. We can argue that there weren't enough runs on the board but there were times when he was spraying the ball over the field as well as not utilizing the new ball properly. And his attitude while fielding was pathetic. Pedestrian in the field, jogging after the ball. And his attitude with the bat was even more pathetic. Cowlashing at every ball.
bulbul Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 +1 for the thread Before series started every one is praying for his Fitness..talks like without Zaheer will lose badly etc.. eventhough he bowled reasonably he is behind all the OZ fast bowlers including Pattinson.. When we are winning there is atalk about how Zak is Fielding captain , marshals the Bowling ... not yet seen a single comment about he managing bowlers, setting field , setting up batsmen etc
saneindian Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Someone who we thought had played his last test, his comeback was okay. Ended the series with 15 wickets. Could have done better especially with the old ball, but that's life. We still need him in Indian conditions and to guide the younger bowlers.

How much guidance does an Indian team need? :hysterical: Seems like anytime a player is past 30 he is an automatic pick in Indian team to guide players? Better to be 30+ in an Indian team I presume :((
1983-2011 Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 all of the Indian bowlers bowled crap. zaheer averaged 31.80, Yadav averaged 39.35, Ashwin averaged 62.77, Ishant Sharma just missed out by just 9 runs to equal bradman's 99.
bulbul Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 so now we have One Batting guide who is almost 40 One bowling guide who is 34 we have to find a Fielding guide of the age 37/38 (Laxman fits the bill) :yay:

Cricket Tragic Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Not his best series but he did alright. You have to remember that he didn't get great support from the other end - no third seamer and a spinner who was milked easily.

ATM

He bowled ok...but not upto the mark (when last year Ashes failures like Hilf and Siddle bowled so well)

And it's not like your hero has been very good over the past few years either.

Sid Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Though I didnt watch most part of this series but just looking at Zaks numbers for this series, they are not that bad considering he was coming after an injury and if maintains his fitness the way he has done in this series, then he is still needed in Indian cricket And regarding batting, its quite idiotic to blame his batting especially when top and middle order arent doing anything with bat..He always bats this way, sometimes it clicks, sometimes it doesnt.I would have blamed him for his batting if he was in a situation where we had to bat out out 2-3 hrs to draw a game and he played one of his special slogs to get out but our batting legends made sure we were never in those kinda situations.

The next test series is 8 months away and in between we have IPL, T20 WC, Asia Cup. You think ZAK will be able to survive that?
