Try $1Billion of investment in grass-root sports thru specialist sports academies. Nothing amazing, it's just that they have different priorities when it comes to sports and conveying their national identity through sporting successes. To guarantee that China finish top of the Olympics Gold Medals in Beijing, 8 years prior, they established sporting production lines across the country to sieve through top talents and Torturedthem into winners. The Soviets did it too.
Correction Tortured.

Australia will be back at the top soon enough, remarkable that Australia have champions in every sport they turn their hand to. For a country with a population of only 23 millions its amazing they constantly turn out champions in almost every sport.
Which other sports? There tennis has gone down,Foobtall is not comparable to top teams,Rugby they are not champions,Hockey yes.

Australia's batting line-up is weaker than England's. Forget about how they performed against India.
A lot weaker. They relied mainly on the 2 oldies who couldn't buy a run before our buffet bowlers arrived.

Both teams were unworthy, India got there not sure how, but I guess by winning a few games on our roads and one or two games overseas. We never did anything of note when we were number 1.

At the moment, there is no worthy No.1. India failed in England. England failed in India. Australia failed elsewhere. India failed in Australia. I will however pick Australia, for they played a very strong opposition (India) and beat them 4-0 despite missing the likes of Gilly, Watto, Lee and Pidge, and with a bunch of rising stars.

Yeah our batting is shite. England;s is way better. If we were in Dubai we wouldn't have made 20.
wow ur not too optimistic lol i think australians play spin much much better then english so they might ve done better

Have the new Aussie batsmen been tested on a turning pitch? No Do they face quality spin bowlers in domestic cricket? Yes the likes of the legendary Steve Smith and Michael bear :hysterical:

South Africa is a good cricketing nation. But when you lose in the fashion they did to Sri Lanka, something's gotta be really wrong. Smith is woefully out of form and its pretty much the Kallis show. They do have a good record all in all, but then they will have to do a lot more to lose the tag of being chokers.

i think they needed to change batting line up and they did that now.. ab is in really good form, amla is probably no 1 batsman in the world all they need is a solid no 6 and good wicket keeper thats where they lose matches dont u think? now rudolph will play at no 6 and i think boucher will go very soon any young keeper will out perform him imo

India were far better. Won in England, drew in SA, won in Nz, won in WI. Only place where England actually outperformed India was in Australia, but then India played Hayden, Gilchrist, etc. On their 2008 tour and still managed a win at Perth. Safe to say India plays far better outside subcon than England do outside England. And we cleaned up the top sides at home. Lets see if England can hang with SA's bowlers on their own seaming pitches. Even Aussies would fancy their chances with their new bowling attack India's Top players have gotten old and are well past it, yet ingerlund are supposedly at their peak with a youngish team!
So true this post... the performances and results of Eng and India in Australia need to be put in context... India played Aus in Aus when the side was at the back end (on the decline) of the greats int he side... Although Aust won and won easily in games, India did get a win in Perth... Englan won the Ashes here (and well done, they were better, had a better side etc) but they played the weakest Aus side in 25+ years. Even those decent players Aust still had were well down on their normal form... To compare like with like India came and lost 2-1... around the same time and with a very similar team, Eng came here and lost 5-0.... Do the maths and work out who was better... Aust are a long way from back but there is some real promise in the bowling, the fielding is back at a first rate level (save for Haddin) and batting is 2-3 batsmen of being back to where we want it....

South Africa are too inconsitent IMO... They are good and are supported by a good bowler and ATG batsman nut they don't have and never have had the killer instinct or ability to get to No.1 and keep it

It could do South Africa no harm to visit a sports psychologist (if they exist). Their problems are mental. They have all the talent in the world but never win anything. They produce so much batting talent that they can export a couple to England. The only thing they don't produce are spinners, they had to import one from Pakistan.

Kallis will have to improve on his woeful record in England while Smith needs to find form. ABDV is in sublime form though (Amla too).
