He doesn't show enough responsibility with the bat. Yes he can be destructive and dangerous but on Indian pitches' date=' so can Yusuf Pathan, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina and many others.[/quote'] Yeah but in SL he batted very well while others struggled in 08 or 09 I think it was. Especially his double century when other were struggling.

That was 3 years ago. Picking him in the side because he did well against one team 3 years ago doesnt make sense when he has failed in South Africa, England and Australia. It's the same argument used to justify Mitchell Johnson's bowling. He might play crap in 9 games but on the 10th he'll click and single handedly win you the game, which is great but he did nothing in 9 games. I'm sorry but id prefer a consistency at the top of the order. Sometime you just need to go back to the basics, old school openers who are technically solid and have the patience and discipline to see off the new ball and play long innings, and can set up the foundation for the middle order.

I like Sehwag. I think he's one of the most devastating openers of all time. However, the Australian bowling is proof that if you replace "potential matchwinners" with consistent performers, then you no longer have one person "potentially" winning you a match, but you have a team of performers collectively winning you a match consistently.

Agreed. But he should be in squad and starting for first 2 tests. If he fails he should be permanently dropped and replaced for 3rd Test.

Where to next for India? So, the Test series is over and the ODI series is looking slightly more promising... Some talented youngsters coming though, clearly more eager than their older teammates. What should the starting XI be in the next Test Match India plays?

Gambhir,Sachin,Kohli,Rohit,Raina,Dhoni,Irfan,Jadeja,Ashwin,Vinay,Umesh. Sehwag will be rested for the rotation policy & Irfan should get a chance against the minnow lankans. That will provide Zak with a much needed break.

When they start off, they all look EAGER to play but as time goes on they become stars and when you become a star money and fame comes along and with fame you get invited to super star parties and that leads to staying up long nights and then you get the picture ...
