When he is asked a question, he will have to answer it, otherwise people will say he is retarded. If he had said he wants to continue as captain, they would have accused him of putting personal ambition above team's interests. The test series is anyway over. We play the next test after 7-8 months. He hasn't said anything about the ODI captaincy. He hasn't made of fool of himself and there are no gag orders on him anyway. Absolutely nothing wrong it what he said.

Absolutely nothing wrong it what he said. Time kharab hai (as the great Viru explained that day). Just a few months back, this man could do no wrong. And now, whatever he says or does, creates a ruckus. And since he can't articulate very well whatever he means, the fans are having a field day. I guess the fans just need to pipe down, sit back and smell the coffee. There's no point making a mountain out of a molehill out of just another press conference; it's the media's job to create 'heat', but we'll do well not to get swayed by it.

Buddy, you should be sacked and not be given the liberty to "quit". Dhoni has gone completely mental with the hammering the team has got in England and Australia.

They should instantly sack him now and get someone in who is hungry to do well, hungry to fight for the team. Dhonis pathetic blaize attiude is reflected in his pathetic lack of fight batting and who gives a damn attitude. This has permeated in to team as well. Get rid of this waste of space. Test captain of your country is the ultimate. People so proud to do it and fight for it. When they have to step down its emotional big thing. Not this I done mind getting replaced pathetic mentality

Typically a standard national team captain won't readily let go of his post without kicking and screaming. Dhoni seemingly wants to be rid of it. Leadership has been a real problem for India in recent times.

I expect him to say being captain of the test team is the proudest thing in the world for me. I am devestaed by results recently. I will fight with every fibre of my body to get us back to number 1 and winning again both home and abroad. I love playing for india and captaing the test team, its what I have always dreamnt of doing. I want to carry on and fight to bring respect back to test team. Or QUIT!

For all the fallacies about Dhoni, his attitude has always kept him in my good books. But I guess everyone has a breaking point. He's reached his. And I would be really disappointed if India let him carry on in Tests after we win the ODI series Down Under.

When in southafrica dhoni blasted sreesanth in media after taking 5 fer because saint smith complained sree used bc ,mc .I lost most of my respect for him and backed kohli,ishant,p.k doing worse stuff .He is a sycophantic suck-up

The attitude you take to captaining a team is one of leadership's more important facets. No successful captain has ever shied away from a challenge as much as Dhoni has this tour. The problem now is that there isn't realistically anyone in the team who would be a good captain. Gambhir needs to solidify his place in the team, Kohli is too young and petulant and Khan, Dravid, VVS, Tendulkar etc are too old/have already failed.

This double-dealing is just not on. If Dhoni has personal issues with Sreesanth, this is not the way to solve it. When you are a captain and command 10 men, behaving in this fashion is just not done. And this is where attitude is the word. Dhoni could have had the "let me show everyone what I am capable of doing despite the average stating otherwise" attitude. Strangely, he showed no fight whatsoever. He has used his approach of keeping a "low profile" to escape the ire of the media, fans, cricket experts and the administrators. Worse, I guess he knows that he's the best we have. So he's really playing it smart by saying he doesn't mind stepping down. I have no idea why he should be allowed to keep a high ground, despite his despicable record as both captain and a player in tests abroad.

He knows that there are no proper replacement of him in Test captaincy (both Delhi boys Gauti & Viru effectively screwed up in their individual performances and ofcourse Team India continued it's losing spree)..So now he plays his TINA factor card.. I don't think majority of fans missed him in the last test match.. The team is screwed up without him or with him.. It's better to sack him from the test team and get any other captain. Even if the new captain struggles, atleast it will be a new begining.. Dhoni's anyway not looking beyond WC 2015..
