feverpitch
Many a times in the Past.."captain" ganguly relied heavily on Dravid to score runs for him...and he obliged him on most occasions.. Now the tide has turned..Now The Rahul Dravid is the captain of Team india.. will Ganguly show his worth and justify his selection in the team as pure batsman..and score runs tomorrow....nothing less than 80-90 will do ... I thought all players play for the country. So if they have any debts, that should be to the country and the fans, not to another player. When RD scored big under SG, he did it for India. Now SG has been performing reasonably well under RD -- once again, for India. Link to comment
theguyinallblue
if Ganguly saves this game with his batting..... i will personally go to his house...and ask for his forgiveness... but if he fails yet again..then.. Link to comment

Ganguly has to continue to play selflessly without politics extending his full cooperation to RD, the captain. This is what people mean by paying back RD 2. some of the ganguly fans seem to forget about the fact that everyone plays for India when they harped on how SG did RD a great favour by including him in the ODI team and on top of it some of my SG fan friends even mentioned how RD is a traitor in not paying back SG for that favour. Eggjacktly Predator....People who say RD was not in the team becos of merit and SG did a huge "favor" for RD are making the kind of statement that you have described well. It is 100% credit to RD for adapting brilliantly to the ODI game. Link to comment
King Tendulkar
gangu is fckin useless at EVERYTHING in TEST cricket Would not go that far. But he is seriously over rated and should have retired about 3 years ago. He should not be in the team. He should retire and I have said this for ages Link to comment

Its less a matter of merit than a matter of selectorial decision making that had deemed Dravid useless in the odi version of the game before the 2003 WC. It was definitely SG who fought the selectors to have RD in the side as a wk-batsman since the five wise men had decided against RD the pure batsman in the team. So full credit to SG. Link to comment
Guest dada_rocks
The most fluent innings of the day, however, came from Ganguly. His footwork was decisive, his leaving outside the off stump was assured and his timing impeccable. While Tendulkar faced Sidebottom almost exclusively through the morning session, Ganguly took over the scoring at the other end, dealing mainly in boundaries between gully and extra cover. Michael Vaughan posted two gullys and two more men square of the wicket on the off side but Ganguly still eased balls into gaps and, when Panesar came, cover-drove and cut him exquisitely.
