agree. and i am a spurs fan. media love him for some reason, he is so over rated its ridiculous
English media have always loved players and clubs from London and Manchester. Loved his crying face after we knocked Chelski from European Cup in 2005 thanks to cheeky goal from Luis Garcia.

how many of our matches did you really watch ? if it weren;t for him covering our backline so well this season..we'd be fighting for a Euro spot instead of CL
All the ones on box. He is works very hard and does get lots of tackles in. But he is average on the ball, tidy but no more. He is good players but not some amazing players he is potrayed as. We have had loads of success over last few years and Parker was not there. Champs league run was all done without Parker. Main reason we have done well this year is that other teams standards have dropped and we had no champs league distraction so no need to rotate and could play best 11 every week. Sandro is better at defensive work then parker. PARKER IS OVERHYPED

Sandro is good I agree, but Parker more than made up for his absence so far..he seems to be the only player capable of breaking up play when the opposition is in our half. Even in the last match against liverpool - it was undeniably him and Ledley that kept us in the game when liverpool went for the kill in the second half. It is this rich vein of form that people are excited about..not the player himself - he is no Yaya Toure..but he is certainly punching above his weight these days. Spurs player of the month for Sep, Oct and Nov Barclays player ofr the month for Nov Eng vs Spain MoTM Now widely reckoned to be in the running for the English captaincy vs Gerrard. Thats one heck of an illusion if so many of us who rate him highly now are wrong..

the whole english mentality is to love a honest hard working 'dog' of a player, and be sceptical of natural talents who are looked down upon and deemed too 'flashy'. if messi was english he would be stuck out on the wing and be asked to run up and down all day giving protection to his full back and not be allowed to fulfil his full natural potential. you are 2-0 down to spain in the euro final, 25 minutes to go, what exactly is parker going to do creatively? jack s h i t

^ Beckham also got crazy accolades and he was a fraud
Beckham was a very good footballer, not great of course, not in Figo class or anything but superb crosser and passing range was excellent. Dedicated pro too. His fame and glitz tends to overshadow that.

He is not there to be creative. He is there to break up the play, track midfield runners and distribute the ball to the more creative players. What would Makele offer in terms of creativity if his team were 2-0 down to Spain with 25 minutes left (not saying Parker is as good as Makele but trying to illustrate how your point about his lack of creativity is irrelevant).

and he is not even very good at that, just because he runs around a lot and gets his shirt dirty in every match he is seen as some kind of warrior god by everyone.

The Arsenal midfield would have been a lot better this season had we signed him.
doubt it, song is ten times the player he is. we just can't defend as a team overall because wenger doesn't make them practice it enough. we could have baresi and lothar matthues at their peak and would still be fragile.

Also arsenal play very high up the field, leaving a lot of space behind the central defenders for quick forwards to exploit.

Makele was ridiculously overated as well. Thats why I rate midfielders who can do the destructive bits but also have dynmic passing range and offer something of quality on the ball. Parker runs around biting but when has ball offers very basic stuff, generally just passes backward very very safely. Comapre him to a dunga/alonso or even a keane. When they got the ball they also offered class, dunga/alonso with superb passing range and Keane with dynamic bursts forward.
