rkt.india Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 This is the thing our board and batsmen need to introspect. It was not the toughest wicket to bat. Yes, it had some bounce and pace and bit of movement under lights, but why cannot these guys play waiting game when the ball was swinging, but there was no one who could wither the storm and play an anchor role, instead all played rash shots and got out. At least play first 10 overs and then see if it gets better for batting or not. Aussies did the same thing. They had only 2 boundaries in first 8 overs and were playing carefully after the drop in first over which cost us dearly. But most of our batsmen rarely look comfortable when ball comes at more than a certain pace around or over 140K and bounces a bit more. Panic starts to creep and they start playing too many shots. If they cannot win, at least can take the match to 50 overs. There is no batsman who wants to stay there and fight it out like RD used to do even when team used to lose. SRT too looked uncomfortable today, but now he is near end of his career. Indian batting future is certainly not looking rosy, especially overseas. Discuss.
Zelch Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 In an ideal world (may be like in Aus/Eng)... Gambhir would have got the accolades for anchoring the innings and scoring two consecutive 90's. There lies one of the problems.
Number Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 We lacked a plan while batting. Trying to attack right from the first ball. Fletcher needs to plan these things. .. Gambhir got a really good one. He didn't even have time to drop his wrists. After 10-12 overs batting wasn't that difficult. Missing RD .. Not too sure but may be a separate batting coach can be useful. specially when there are so many young batsmen.
prashsenga Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 the swat shots are killing us... none of these guyz have any semblance of something called footwork... do we have anybody in ranji who moves his feet and plays...
