saneindian Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Something surely is brewing between Sehwag-Gauti and MSD. Gauti going out saying match should have been finished in 48 overs, MSD retorting back saying each individual is different and that Sehwag could have finished it in 25 overs and now this statement. A series of faux passes from the seniors. BCCI needs to step in if there is even a sniff of some issues in the dressing room. The last thing this team needs is ego clashes between players.
VRV Singh Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I think Dhoni should shut up with these statements. He is giving oppurtunities to our media to run bizzare stories about the rift and with statements like these rift will be created even if ther isnt any yet.If we were so worried about our fielding and planning for 2015 WC' date='[b']we shouldnt have selected these seniors in the squad in the first place. Maybe it is a point being made to those who pick the squad?
Ultimate_Game Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 All the signs point to a bunch of superstars playing together rather than a team. At least this is one area Fletcher could have added value and he's failing big time in holding the team together as well. What this team needs is some honest "clear the air" meeting and some team bonding else we need to blow the team up and start again.
Sid Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Maybe it is a point being made to those who pick the squad? I think Dhoni has enough say in squad selection or may be I am wrong. But this has all the makings of Greg Chappel part II,unnecessary statements being passed, idiotic policies for a tournament that will be played 3-4 years later.Something bizzare is going on.I just hope all is well within the team.

Is speaking one's mind also mean they are not playing as a team ? Sehwag and Sachin along with Zaheer and Ashwin are obvious liabilities in the field. Its a matter of 20+ runs which is a game breaker in an ODI, not to mention an all round good fielding side can put a lot of pressure on the opposition which will produce wickets. So you would rather have a diplomatic captain who would lie and say Sachin and Sehwag are good on the field just to satisfy their egos ?

I am not sure it is centred on planning for the WC. IN general I believe Dhoni wants a progressive fielding unit for LOIs. I agree with him here. I guess there is the obvious pressures not to rock the boat regarding the selection of seniors, if they make themselves available. But you can give hints now and again. Who knows what the team relations are like.

As a team these things should be saud and discussed in team meetings or in 1:1, never in the media. Just imagine if your boss starts providing you feedback or doing your performance review in front of others, or your colleagues/peers etc. start sharing the information to all sundry rather than have a chat with you or amongst the team? You will never see a good or united team making such kind of remarks or criticizing each other in media. A united team projects a unified front in front of all others and media. You generally share positives in front of everyone and stress on negatives and areas of improvement privately.
CG Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Viru saying to sachin-Paaji Yeh to Chappel II Ban gaya Sachin-Koi baat naahien mene Dada to phone kar diya hai.

I think everyone is quite aware of Sehwag and some others fielding ability even if Dhoni doesnt mention it. He is also not criticizing any particular player's ability but just mentioned what's already known - Sehwag's exclusion would mean Raina or Rohit would get a game and they would be much better in the field and save runs. I dont understand what's so controversial about this.

I seriously doubt Srinivasan could give a **** about the infighting that is going on in the side. As long as IPL and Chennai Super Kings' interests are protected, I doubt he could care less what happens to the Indian team - he has already made clear that the 8-0 means nothing because we won some meaningless ODI games at home. In most countries, even one 4-0 whitewash would set the alarm bells ringing but in India the likes of Srinivasan are hardly affected even after two such humiliations.

Just make non-commital, generic and bland statements like he used to earlier, and have a chat with the palyers one-on-one regarding their areas of improvement, and even take them to task but do so privately. This incident is as bad as him calling out Sreesanth openly in the media, or Sehwag stating "everyone had a good game except Sreesanth". As a team everyone should have each other's back. If someone doesn't improve even after repeated warnings/discussions simply drop the player, no need to go to media even in that case. Media doesn't have to know everything and that's how things should be in team sport. If internal issues of a team are coming out or are being aired in the media, it means there's something wrong with the team just like France in the last soccer world cup.

Infact only 'two or three' good ones. He was probably posed a quetion specifically about seniors.

What are you, a college kid who holds a idealistic view of the world? In the real world, people can't be blunt when telling the truth and sometimes can't tell the truth until a appropriate period in private and almost always not in public.
amiret Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 BCCI has kept the infighting under wraps for a long time but now it is spilling out into the open. Sehwag has to be dropped from Tests and ODI's . We don't need an opener averaging in the 20's.
