Of course, and the best way to get your house in order is to bring down the old pillar that can fall any time. Kick the seniors out who are bleeding this team. We may still have 2 or so years of Dhoni before he calls it a day. That said wouldnt be surprised if Dhoni retires ahead of SRT. Thats how the Marathi rolls anyway!:hysterical::yay:

I wouldn't mix his idiotic statements with his batting. Regardless of what he says, he had a good time at the top and for a while was undoubtedly the best batsman in the world - no mean achievement when the competition had the likes of Richards, Miandad, Gooch, and Gavaskar. In fact, if you remember he was at his prime and in the middle of an unforgettable purple patch when he was felled by a bouncer by Patterson(?) while batting on a 100+ on the '87 tour of West Indies to India. The next match was the Hirwani test where India played under Shastri and squared the series. He never even came close to regaining his best after that injury and had to be finally jettisoned after the '92 Australia tour after poor returns over the 15 tests or so.

And Border. Vengsarkar was a good batsman. Surprised how little accolodates he gets these days but he first broke into National limelight after hitting Indian legendary spinners for six in Irani Trophy. Which tells you 2 things. That he was a big hitter when need be and many a time, specially with Kapil around he would just drive into top gear and start going nuts as well. And that in those days top cricketers came out of domestic cricket because everybody played in there (not IPL). I remember the bouncer that felled him, not sure if it was Patterson though. Could be wrong. There was one innings in West Indies where he stood the barrage of Marshall and was into his 90s when Marshall finally got him. Considering their historical hostility Marshall considered that as his top wicket of career. And that coming from greatest fast bowler of modern times tells you how good vengsarkar was. But still this particular comment of his was major chewtiyapa.

when in flow, he was simply superb .... still remember his 100 in the WC03 final most things have a shelf life and i guess he is near his expiry date .... players are remembered for their peaks and he had one of the best
