Pakistan pace legend Wasim Akram has backed Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's controversial rotation policy, saying that there is "good reason" behind the move as senior players are either "not in his control" or they have become a "liability". Dhoni's remarks about senior players being slow fielders has triggered speculation that there are dissensions in the Indian dressing room. Akram said Dhoni's comments are an "absolutely genuine" opinion. "In my opinion, Dhoni is a very intelligent person and I totally agree with him because he says what he thinks. There must be a very good reason behind his comments. I have never heard Dhoni speaking in such a manner. I think either the seniors are not in his control or they are a liability," he said. The former Pakistan captain feels Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag will have to be physically fit to sustain themselves in the ODI format. "As the grounds are big in Australia, players have to be in the best of their health to play. Nobody questions Tendulkar's fitness, either you see him fielding at short third-man or fine-leg. You can hide your fielders in Test and T20s but not in ODIs," Akram explained. Akram also questioned the role of coach Duncan Fletcher in team selection. "If I am the coach, I will send the best batsman to open the innings. Gautam Gambhir has scored in 90s twice in the series so far and he is the best opener available. It is up to the team management to decide who will be his opening partner. "That will also give you a left hand-right hand combination. In the match against Sri Lanka we saw both the out-of-form batsmen opening the innings and your best is coming at No. 3. So, what is the use of keeping a coach when he is not able to decide?" asked Akram.

Well he biatches about Seniors in public' date=' can't expect them to have much respect for him.[/quote'] What he said is a well known fact and everyone knows that thing. This is a professional team sport. You cannot be holding on to past glories and big names. Look at Clark, he did not take a second to exclude Ponting from the team that is how you build a a new team. Watch Dhoni's press conference and do not go with just what is in media and news channels. Nowhere, he disrespected any senior, he is just trying to rebuild a team for 2015 WC by giving youngsters chances. He said quite a few seniors including him and even Gambhir may not play 20125 WC as they all are 30 or above. If he is having foresight, people are blaming him and on the other hand people blame selectors to have no foresight, at least some one is thinking forward without being selfish. He him knows that he too may not play in 2015 WC. People like Sehwag are not even scoring runs, if they had scored runs, at least they had their claim to be in the team. Look at his fitness, do people think he can last till 2015. He held one catch and behaving like he is Jonty that is the most ridiculous aspect of this attitude along with giving catching practice every time he comes on to bat, at least Dhoni puts prize on his wickets, scores runs even when whole top order batting does not show up.

Not only waqar but Aqid javed, Rashid Latif, Basit Ali and many others were kept out under your captaincy just coz you didn't get along with them for one reason or another...where was the country then? "That will also give you a left hand-right hand combination. In the match against Sri Lanka we saw both the out-of-form batsmen opening the innings and your best is coming at No. 3. So, what is the use of keeping a coach when he is not able to decide?" asked Akram FYI , GG has been playing at number 3 everytime viru and srt are in the 11...he has done well and so did viru and srt at the top. Had GG score runs, you would have been praising the decision along with the crap team of yours, sanjay and ravi....

So Sachin should be allowed to continuously fail, along with Sehwag, and Gautam should be allowed to carry on giving extra runs because of his slow fielding? I'm sorry, but Dhoni is absolutely on the money with his comment. I might dislike a few things he does, but this is one thing I salute him for. This is a typical Indian trait. We want to only conveniently compare ourselves with others. We wish to ape the Australian ruthless wining streak, but do not want to go for bold steps like Australia have, dropping Ricky friggin Ponting! And then we hide behind the flimsy excuse of cultural difference! Sachin can go fly a kite, along with Sehwag and Gautam. Dadagiri will not work.

Whatever the issue, it's not very dignified of the captain to spill it in the media, that too when the team is going through a tough time. Very bad gesture from Dhoni.

I would have also supported him if he had the same standard for all his players,But he has different rules for his friends and diff for others and this is not the first time he publicy criticized a player. In team sport if a captain criticizes a player in media its against the ethic of team sport.

Whatever he is doing is with an eye on future. At least, someone has a foresight if not the selectors.

But this is one thing he is absolutely correct about. Sachin is an absolute freeloader in the side, who is simply living off his own goodwill. Even if he scores a 100 in the next game, it will not change the horrible stats of this year that stare in his face. Sehwag and Gambhir have made this is a bit of an ego issue. Gambhir might get lesser stick because he's atleast scoring runs. Sehwag is just talking. These 3 are a liability in the team and rotate them. And drop Sachin Tendulkar. Don't let him ruin his own name. He's done enough ruining already.

He had already cleared it that he wants to gives chances to youngsters when the series started and one of the three seniors was sitting out every game. He said that in press conference if you have not forgotten and I think you won't expect him to say to SRT and Viru that he is not playing them because of fielding as it was second issues, first was giving youngsters chance.

I found nothing objectionable in the way Dhoni spoke about the rotation policy to the media. If anything, he was overtly careful and cautious in order to not hurt the seniors.

I support Dhoni on this issue of giving more opportunities to young players (I'd like him to give equal opportunities to all young players). However, as many people have said, all this should be sorted in team meetings & dressing room. Not in public using media. Regarding Sehwag, IMO he should be SACKED ASAP.

He did not say in the media at first that as sachin and others were slow so they are rotating,He said it after youngsters were not scoring and press asked him about it.What if somebody does the same to dhoni .would he like it.? No .Even if he said it he had enough time to communicate with seniors but by what shewag said seems they hardly communicate.

The idiom, Give an inch and he'll take a mile is becoming increasingly true for Wasim Akram. Shut up dude, don't overplay your card, by calling Shewag Fat(he literally said that) or speculate on internal politics and what not. Just focus on your commentary, which should be purely about the on field cricket. And coming to his commentary who'll tell Wasim that were tired of listening to his English, which in every alternate sentence is rife with either a grammatical error or an error of diction. And why on earth isn't he commentating in the UAE? Now coming to India, I can't imagine such dissent AFTER winning the world cup. The victory should have been a unifying force. Clearly someone is playing politics somewhere. Anyways Shewag's performances have been utterly disappointing. Give him a break. I don't want to buy into this "impact player" bit any more. So once you drop Shewag, there won't be a need for a rotation policy anymore. Simple. Shewag has to go out, for this tourney atleast. We simply need Tendulkar cos unfortunately the young blood is just not clicking. Kohli, Jaddu,Raina and Sharma...good thing Pathan's found some rhythm. Anyway's I just don't see this lot winning us enough matches to take us into the finals and then winning 3 matches in the finals. Drop Shewag the team will be just about right.
