need rahul & ashwin both in. these guys can bowl in power play overs. they bowl at death in t20. they can bowl anywhere. play tiwari for jaddu. sehwag, raina, kohli are more then capable of knowing where not to bowl, specially the first two. with jaddu we are pretty much ending up bowling them anyway. also giving yadav the new ball will be better for him. if he goes for run u will have rahul and ashwin as change up. still better then PK and VK. who after first 12 over look hopeless.

No matter which bowlers we play or how many, we will still go for runs. At the end of the day you will still see the likes of Kohli and Raina bwling at the death. At least we have a better chance with a fortified batting lineup which allows our top order batsmen to play wit freedom knowing that even if they get out going for shots, they have depth in the batting lineup. I say stick to our tried and tested formula and play 7 batsmen + Pathan and no Jaddu, and go for it right from ball one like we did against SL. If we get outand lose playing aggressively so be it. At least we gave ourselves the best chance to win.
:idunno: so you think the reason top order has sucked is the depth of batting line-up? The bowlers have been more consistent than batsmen this series. Indian top order has been blown away in a single hurricane most times. Quite defeatist to accept we will be tonked anyway given that. Though yes, the Death overs have sucked. Parttimers bowling 10 overs is the type of gamble that might cost 75 runs. HAsn't happened so far.

As I said earlier, this is the ofrmula which works for us. Every team is different and in India's case our strength is batting and our best results have come when we had a proper batsman at 7. 2003 WC - Kaif/Mongia at 7 with Dravid keeping, 2011 WC - Raina at 7. Even in 1983 and 1985 we had depth in the batting with likes of Binny, Madan Lal etc. and Kirmani actually batting at 10 :omg:

I am not even sure who is part timer who is regular these days from our line up. My point is there is not an ocean of difference between a part timer and a regular bowler. They all are capable of bowling worse than a part timer. It is much more frequent these days. If you are going to back Rahul Sharma.. i agree because he can be threatening on Australian pitches. But Jadeja is slightly better than a part timer. On a given day a part timer can outbowl him easily.

But I think Jadeja could be dropped too. I'm simply sceptical about 'getting away' with his replacement being Raina/Sehwag/Rohit for 10 overs. He has done a steady job with the ball, it is with bat people are concerned. posted a 7-11 above which I would be tempted to go with (includes Rahul Sharma). Pathan for me is good enough to bat 7. End of the day I am not sure the potential gain of another specialist bat is much, especially given it would be Rohit (mediocre this series) or Tiwary (would be his first game, not exactly a great batsman) edit - btw this is constrained to this tri-series. In SC conditions against worse teams you could do it.

I think the reason we don't like them that much is that they are a slimy bunch and pass snide remarks behind your back than do something openly. Aussies and Pakis don't have the underhanded sneaky way of p*ssing folks off. Couple it with a holier than thou attitude of Lankans who always try to claim the moral high ground and you have the recipe for not liking them much.
I think there is definitely some history here. Lankans may have always wanted an extra yard of prestige bestowed on them since India was the big brother, and obviously it has not happened. Which ticks them off further. I mean SL generally play good against India, there may be something in there for researchers.
Sanga the whinga has always moaned about India's test ranking as if Lankans have been winning away, or Jayawardene saying we wouldn't have "mankaded" anyone despite his player being in the wrong, or the way Lankans bowled the no-ball to deny Sehwag a century, or the way Sanga cheated at the toss. These bunch of f@ggots deserve kick up their @$, if nothing else.
Which is why it was even smashing that after Kohli led India to victory Dhoni comes out to shake hands with Lankans with a "Ah no big deal, its only Lanka" kinda cool atitude. Pretty sure that would have put some salt in their wounds..

Lurks' date=' have you considered putting Disco Dancer in your "now playing" or that movie which had the song "ghori tera gaun bada pyaara" ?[/quote'] Vijay, DD was once on my playlist, Yaad aa reha hai tera pyaar was the song in my signature. Gori tera gaun bada pyaara is from Chitchor. Pretty sure I had that on my list as well, most likely the song would have been Aaj se pahle aaj se jyaada khushi aaj tak nahin milli (Yesudas) We can always have a rerun of course :winky:

I expect Sanga to come out whinging pretty soon, especially if they lose to Aus. I am sure his remarks would be on the lines of "it's not fair we couldn't make it to the finals despite us being the better team and having a higher NRR" :hysterical:

If that happens, and it just might considering the history of Sangakarra, wouldnt it be nice to see a Kohli, or a Raina, or a Sharma (one of the young guns) saying "Haan wo aise hi bakte rehta hai". Sangakarra used to be fairly smart, wonderd what happened to him?:nervous:

Sanga the whinga has always whinged and seems to have a huge chip on his shoulder regarding India. Must be the "big brother" syndrome and it does p*ss you off if the bigger brother is much better as well :--D His comments on India's test ranking were ridiculous to say the least. A team which hasn't done anything of note away from home and yet to even win a Test in India, Aus and SA (at that time) taking shot at another who have been near invicible at home, had beaten Eng in Enf, drew SA in SA and had pretty close series in Aus was simply laughable and ironic beyond belief. I don't know why people consider Sanga smart :dontknow: He's articulate but that doesn't mean he's smart. The guy can be heard whinging before and after every series, especially against India and is generally left with egg all over his face :haha:

Wow! Thats a thing of beauty. Great scoring areas. None of the whole big-bat-small-grounds = mishits for sixes. theory. These are clean shots, good on most ground. :hatsoff:

Well Sangakarra is an articulate man, no denying that. He expresses himself rather well. His problem seems to be that is just a sore loser. He cant take a loss with grace. And so if he get moment in the sun and has any room to had a snipe at India, he does not let go.

Sanga is a pretentious biatch and I hate him for that. He's a fine player no doubt about that but in general the holier than thou attitude of the Lankans pisses me off.

You nailed it! The same can be said of Dilshan as well. You should simply look at their faces when their team is about to lose. In fact Dilshan went so far as to deny Sehwag a century by asking his bowler to bowl a no-ball :giggle: I wonder how they can even refer to "spirit of cricket" with a straight face. Shameless and graceless is what Sanga & Dilshan are in a nutshell. On top of that Lankans have this "holier than thou" attitude

One of the very few who can score quickly, looks good while scoring and is not a FTB :hatsoff:
