I guess Lady didnt want to risk bowling Herath in the PP overs and after 26th over both batting and bowling PP were taken which took the match to the finish. The reason Herath went for fewer runs is that batsmen were playing for the PP and didnt take too many risks Both Gambhir and Kohli negotiate spinners very well once they are set and easily get 10 runs an over by running singles and just going for one boundary shot. When batsmen dont have anything to lose and can slog freely, bowling a spinner (of Herath's ability) is a risk most skippers wouldnt take. He had already figured that lankans were going to lose and kept his best bowler Malinga on in the hope of a wicket to prolong the victory beyond the 40th over. In hindsight, that didnt pay off.

Tiwary is in Kohli's league in terms of shot making.
All batsmen including Tiwary are brilliant when they are either not in the team, or are playing at home against the weaker teams.

malinga defended some 10 runs (i think) against dhoni, cant imagine herath doing it against anybody from our top order, during powerplay, once raina was in, hearth was rightly taken off. nobody in lankan team had as much experience as malinga to bowl in powerplay overs.

That is exactly the reason Indian cricket will not be able to dominate world cricket on a consistent basis.... we dwell too much on ocassional brilliance and one off good performances to stick with cricketers... Hence no change is affected even with dismal performance upon dismal performance. If Raina had not been given a long leash, then yes I would support his place in the side for a while due to his age... but this chump has played in the team for how many years now? I'm sure there are other cricketers in India who can do his job at numbers 6 or 7 albeit a bit more consistently. We all know he is a different beast on flat SC tracks... but if we are to plan for success then he has been given enough time and now is a chance to try out other bashers at that spot.
I disagree. He is possibly the best player for us at that position.

Fair enough, Guess Jaya's the kind of captain who sticks to the pre-match plan.. no real contingency/think on-your-feet kind of decisions.. Contrasting captaincy styles - Dhoni let Raina bowl the 50th over

Wonder what Sangakkara has to say now about putting "pressure" on India outside subcontinent and India are "fragile" away :haha: For Sanga the whinga and Lankans, India and SL record in non-subcontinental countries (Aus, SA, Eng and NZ) is 3-14 Yup, you guys have managed 3 wins and have been hammered 14 times. And one of those 3 wins for SL came in 1979 in ENg when India had yet to win even a single odi.
Didnt know this. Cool :hatsoff: SL is perhaps the team I detest most. They are one ungrateful bunch. For some reason there is a certain animosity that is not seen even with Pakistan. This stems back from the mid 80s. Plus of course there is no fun in seeing folks like Angelo Mathews, Parera, Chandimal etc. Aside from Sanga everyone of their stalwarts are overrated FTB. Mahela, Tilshan included.

Malinga went for 34 runs in the first 3 overs. Still he brought him back to get the wicket of TEndulkar. He is their go to bowler to produce a wicket anytime. Not even in the wildest imagination he would have expected this magical stuff from Kohli. He just walked across and flicked yorkers for 4. Tell me how many can actually do that . It was one of those days any captain would have been tearing their hair .

Nah, was fair enough. Mahela never thought Malinga would bowl crap and get his ass raped by Kohli. He's the go to guy when it comes to wickets to them all the time.

I think the reason we don't like them that much is that they are a slimy bunch and pass snide remarks behind your back than do something openly. Aussies and Pakis don't have the underhanded sneaky way of p*ssing folks off. Couple it with a holier than thou attitude of Lankans who always try to claim the moral high ground and you have the recipe for not liking them much. Sanga the whinga has always moaned about India's test ranking as if Lankans have been winning away, or Jayawardene saying we wouldn't have "mankaded" anyone despite his player being in the wrong, or the way Lankans bowled the no-ball to deny Sehwag a century, or the way Sanga cheated at the toss. These bunch of f@ggots deserve kick up their @$$es, if nothing else.

DTW analysis of his beloved Team India I have been busy revising for my exams (went well) but it is clear to see demise of the Indian team. No need to get carried away with today's performance, we all know Kohli bats well in ODI's and Gauti has shown form with two previous 90's. For me, the bowling is a JOKE in ODI's currently. These are meant to be tracks where bowlers can get something out of them. Forget the bowling averages of our seamers, that only tell half the story. Yadav is very expensive and wayward, does he justify playing every game? He needs to be developed slowly. VK is not international class, got some success earlier in series as was bowled during less challenging times. Mostly, this guy will be found wanting. ZK not too good in ODI's and on decline. Pathan has been steady but not dangerous. Ashish Nehra despite being one our best bowlers in ODI is being ignored as the selectors feel embarassed to call him as they didn't offer him a central contract. What ridiculous behaviour is this? Sree would ne automatic selection if not coming back from injury so we can't fault the selectors on this. We need some bowlers to bowl restrictive in ODI and have some wicket taking seamers. Right now, our seamers fail at either role. Batting is a collective flop, they are not batting together. If we want to achieve more than the odd victory we need an urgent upheavel. This means new coach, Steve Waugh and a new captain for all 3 formats, he must be someone who has that special gift to unify the team! Too many egos are currently spoiling the team and delivering substandard performances. We must bring change!

Not really no. Drop Raina in SA or Aus but in subcontinental conditions you won't find a better hitter of the ball. Dropping him from a tourney in subcontinent coz of his performance in Aus would be knee-jerk at best and stupidity at worst. We need hitters lower down the order on flat pattas. Whom do you think fits the bill if Raina is not around? Jaddu? Rahane? Raina needs to play on flat wkts - pure and simple. He is one of the few players who can score quickly and right from the start.

@OP' date=' you have a serious lag problem. That stuff should have been posted 3 days back :cantstop:[/quote'] Ban just finished. Been wanting to get it off my chest for a while. Today's win is good but doesn't hide the disastrous ways we have performed in last two tours. Failure from BCCI down to Captain and individual players.
