Congratulations Sachin. Irrelevant record but no mean feat reaching it. I have a feeling the Asia Cup will be his last intl. assignment.

Sachin Tendulkar gets his 100th ton - finally! Mirpur: Mar 16, 2012 Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar created yet another record in his glorious career when he scored his 100th international ton during the fourth Asia Cup match against Bangladesh at Mirpur. Tendulkar became the first ever batsman in world cricket to achieve the feat. He has scored 51 centuries in Test cricket and 49 in One-Day Internationals. Australia batting great Ricky Ponting, who is also the third highest run-getter in Test cricket, is at the second place in context of number of centuries scored -- 41 in Tests and 30 in ODIs. South Africa cricket star Jacques Kallis is at the third place in most number of international hundreds, 59 overall which includes 42 in Tests and 17 in ODIs. Tendulkar speaks: "It's been a tough phase for me. I started off the season batting reasonably well, i was luckless. I was not thinking about the milestone, the media started all this, where ever I went, the restaurant, room service, everyone was talking about the 100th hundred. Nobody talked about my 99 hundreds. It was slightly different, the ball was not coming onto the bat. It hasn't sunk in but I've definitely lost about 50 kilos. Dreams do come true. I had to wait for one for 22 years (the World Cup)."

Congrats Sachin. This record probably would never be broken anywhere in the near future as is the case with his total overall international runs. One interesting observation. Sachin seems to have got his form immediately after hitting the 100th run. So, probably he is not completely out of form but it is just the pressure of 100th century which was getting on to him. Would be interesting to see how he plays in the next few matches and if he opens up like in the past or seems defensive or out of form as in the recent matches. Having said that, I hope he also hits his 50th ODI century probably in the next couple of matches and then retire in the near future giving way for the next generation who can get ample time before the next world cup.
