Chalks Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 What a legend! What a champion! What a relief! :hatsoff:
kruiser Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 did not want him to get a century today.. 100th ton against BD is anti climactic.. and the fashion in which he scored it.. probably one of the most scratchy of his 100s. I was hoping for one in Asia cup final against PAK.. now thats the one I would have celebrated!
SachDan Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Expecting another 15 centuries from Sachin: Kapil Dev
Blue-no1 Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 In my opinion his best innings is not any of the centuries. It is the 98 against padosis in WC2003. On that day, it looked like 21 players played on one pitch in a game 1 game and the Master played on a different pitch with club level bowlers. The effect of the game was so big that 2 days later in an Eng-Aus WC game, Ian Healy and other commentators were talking about it while the Aus-Eng game was in the last few over sand was a thriller in itself.

Spot on! His best odi knocks that I remember are :- 1. WC 2003 knock against Pakis is by far his best knock 2. 90 odd against Aus in WC 96 when he single handedly took on the Aussie bowlers and nearly won us the game, 3. His knock of 84 off 48 balls against NZ when he opened for the 1st time 4. Desert storm knocks

Ultimate_Game Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 175 against Aus is also one of the very best. It was good but IMO the innings listed above are better coz of the context... 1. 2003 WC game against padosis - has to be the best due to a big WC game 2. 90 against Aussies in 96 WC again due to it being a WC game and since India lost 2 early wkts and te way Tendulkar took on McGrath, Gillespie and Warne 3. His 1st odi knock as an opener as it was the 1st one and it was breathtaking one. He probably changed the future of odis by showing the team's best batsman should come in early in odis. 4. Desert storm knocks as he took on Aus almost sngle-handedly and won. I would actually have his 100 against Aus in the inaugral ICC Champions trophy (I think in 98) over his 175 as he scored runs when India had lost 2 early wkts and ensured India put up a huge score and won the game. But after that knock his 175 against Aussies should be next on the list.
