velu
Imagine how super awesome Sachin is when his worst innings came at at the age of 39' date=' after 21 years of his career and that too in a match where he scored his 100. People dont know how much of a compliment they are indirectly giving Sachin. Guess his decision to stay on is justified[/quote'] considering sachin not ready to retire and our selectors balls drop off when they think about sachins position in the team, we can expect more such match winning innings from him :hatsoff: and sachins 80 odd runs vs pakistan in mohali is another worst innings from him , but to pretend that i am neutral i will say that sachins 97 vs pak at centurion is the best from him :icflove: Link to comment

Marut
Regarding Tendulya's 100th 100. It was not a horribly slow one nor the worst innings played by him. But the slow hundred here was not because it was difficult to score or he was out of form or the bowlers were damn good or there was chasing pressure, wicket pressure etc. It was slow in order to achieve an inconsequential individual milestone and hence ranks as one of his lowliest innings. As of now, there is no one (at least in cricketing world) who can claim to have gone through same level of scrutiny, media-hype/following by random people of daily life.., for a period of 1 year. It is easy for rest of us to sit back and judge based on few overs of 'slow/ugly batting'. As for comparing with others, we will see in future when someone goes through something comparable, nearing some comparable landmark/milestone. For me difference between 99 100s and 100 100s is as much as it is between 99 runs and 100 runs. But, cricketing world has always celebrated 100s more than 90s/99s.. there was bound to be some hype and celebration on a similar round figure, in matters of 100s... especially when media/fans started realizing that such figure (however artificial it may sound), is highly unlikely to be surpassed any time in foreseeable future. And also, the celebrations have not been about 100th 100, but 100 100s. Link to comment
Crookbond
And also, the celebrations have not been about 100th 100, but 100 100s. You took that from Sachin didn't you? :acute: I totally agree though. Link to comment
