IPL Match 14 Preview: Pune Warriors India Vs Kings XI Punjab The 14th match of the Indian Premier League 2012 season will see the Pune Warriors battle it out once again with the Kings XI Punjab in the return leg of the fixture that was played in Pune last week. This time the teams will do battle at the PCA stadium in Mohali on Thursday the 12th of April in the 8pm kick-off. This fixture will be the third of the competition for both sides, and with the teams having vastly contrasting fortunes at the start of their respective campaigns, it is a must win game for the home side, who run the risk of competing for the wooden spoon if results don't improve in a hurry. Pune: This Pune side has settled down brilliantly under the leadership of former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly, and will be looking to set themselves apart from the rest of the pile with another victory over the underdogs Punjab. The batting has been good in patches and although the top order has failed to get off to good starts, there are no real causes for concern yet for the team. Sourav Ganguly and Jesse Ryder will continue to open in all likelihood and the likes of Robin Uthappa, Callum Fergusson and Marlon Samuels will take up the middle-order duties. Aussie All rounder Steve Smith too has been of immense value to this team and will continue to slot in at No.6 while Karnataka Batsman Manish Pandey will slot in at No.7. The Bowling, although bereft of foreign stars seems to be holding up well in Indian conditions which is a positive sign for the team. Ashish Nehra and Ashok Dinda will share the fast bowling responsibilities while the effective match winning pairing of leggie Rahul Sharma and left arm spinner Murali Kartik will round off the attack. Punjab: It is only to fair to say that the Punjab side have looked out of sorts in this tournament and will need a source of inspiration from somewhere to kick-start their campaign. Adam Gilchrist and Paul Valthaty look decent at the top of the order but with an injury to Shaun Marsh, who has been a prolific scorer for them in the past, the batting looks a bit short of depth. David Hussey and Mandeep Singh have looked in decent touch but will need to convert their starts into substantial scores to help the team. Lack of resources will keep the experienced Abhishek Nayar in the team and he will need to start performing for Punjab if they wish to get anything from this tournament. One gets the feeling that Siddharth Chitnis and ex-Rajasthan Royals player Paras Dogra will get a look in if Marsh stays out, to bolster the batting resources that are clearly inadequate. The bowling too seems to have fallen apart with the usually disciplined Praveen Kumar spraying it all over the place, and therefore they will need somebody of the experience of Azhar Mahmood to steady the ship ahead of the previously tried Dimitri Mascerenhas. Piyush Chawla and James Faulkner could still retain their places amidst this turmoil as they add some much needed variety to the attack. Likely XI Pune: S Ganguly, J Ryder, R Uthappa, M Samuels, C Fergusson, S Smith, M Pandey, R Sharma, M Kartik, A Nehra, A Dinda Punjab: A Gilchrist, P Valthaty, M Singh, A Nayar/ S Marsh, D Hussey, P Dogra, S Chitnis, P Chawla, P Kumar, J Faulkner, A Mahmood/Harmeet Singh. Key Players: S Smith: The Aussie all rounder has been in terrific form and has provided some much needed end overs impetus to the side. D Hussey: David Hussey hasnÃÕ been his usual self in this tournament and he will need to contribute heavily to lift the spirits of this under-cooked side. Pitch: The wicket at the PCA stadium is usually a belter and if both teams bat well we could see a very high scoring game. Match Prediction: Pune seem like overwhelming favourites but we could see a rejuvenated Punjab upset the Warriors this time around. http://www.thesportscampus.com/2012041020438/domestic-t20/ipl-match-preview-pune-warriors-india-vs-kings-xi-punjab Let's Go :pw:

Had some work in Pune the day of the game against K xi P. Thats why decided to go for the game. The stadium is quite far, much ahead of Hinjewadi on the express highway. But what a stadium. All the new stadiums are state of the art- be it the new Wankhede or the DY Patil or now this. Priety Zinta and Dada got the loudest cheers. Puneris flocked in numbers to watch this game. Must be at least 40,000 people at the venue. Lots of people from Mumbai too made the trip. The express highway back was also jammed till the Talegaon toll-naka. Good game + lovely romantic long drive back to Mumbai on a full moon night. Jiyo PW
