The condition of our bowling is beyond laughable right now. In fact I doubt even a Ranji team will have a poorer bowling "attack", if you call it attack, than the Team India attack. We have neither pacers nor decent spinners, we can neither bowl fast or turn the ball, we can neither bowl a decent bouncer, yorker or a doosra, we can neither take wkts nor control run-flow, The only thing we can do is our trundlers bowling a "slower" ball. There's no way we will do anything with the sort of bowling we have and I doubt our bowling is even better than some of the ICC Asssociate nations. IMO Ireland and Afghanistan have a better bowling lineup than our lot and we can't expect batting winning us matches everytime as the formula seldom succeeds for long. It's not a coincidence that every great or even good team historically had a decent bowling lineup. I have lost any hope of us ever having a decent pace attack as even if we unearth a decent bowler his talent will be wasted just like RP, Irfan, Balaji, Ishant etc. But at the very least we should be able to unearth a couple of chuckers from 1st class like Ajmal & Murali. I am sure this is one type of bowler we should be able to find if we cast our net far and wide. Forget about pace hunt and spinner etc. simply look around for bowlers with unusual bowling actions and preferably ones who can chuck. Field 2 of them and surround them with 1 pacer (Ishant or Umesh), 1 trundler (Vinay/Irfan/PK etc.) and surround them with part-timers like Raina/Rohit etc. At least we will be able to keep the opponents down and maybe pick some wkts when the batsmen go after the chuckers.

The fact that we have seen Harbhajan Singh go back to the domestic circuit and he has been so useless ever since for Punjab. This tells you alot of these bowlers are playing on due to preferential treatment.

Blame MSD. Why has he been ignoring Rahul Sharma is something only he knows. Weird team selections. The continued selelction of Praveen Kumar despite repeated failures is a joke. Also why not open with a spinner in a t20 or an ODI? Change something when you know you have a weak bowling attack.

He needs to go.Indian cricket is becoming predictable and stale.Need fresh ideas and team combos.

I think the Indian bowling attack has a few problems which, in turn, brings everyone else down.
  • Praveen Kumar has always been inconsistent and poor in the IPL. Why do we expect better internationally?
  • Poor captaincy. Raina has a good bowling record, but at the death, really?
  • Note how Ashwin performed alright.
  • 2 overs, 29 runs from Kohli and Rohit, neither of who should ever be bowling.
  • One over for Yusuf Pathan, who is a far superior bowler.

Simple solution, imo. Get in a permanent replacement for Praveen in T20, keep the part time spinners away from the death overs and keep the non-bowlers away from bowling.

The real problem is quality.we have been saying for years guys like P.k,v.k, are not long term bowlers,we should invest in bowlers who have long term future .

I have saying this after the test series, but after t20 and odi debacle most will agree.

Vinay has done alright in recent ODIs so he can get a slight longer tenure but Praveen is overdue for a drop.

Simplest solution is to find chuckers via IPL. It's time we realized that cricket has changed forever post Murali. Now likes of Ajmal will be the norm and we can't afford to lag behind. If not Ajmal then find someone like Mendis or Narine (the WI bowler against whom Aussies had no clue). I am sure we should be able to find bowlers like those if not quality pacemen. It's frustrating to watch our batsmen trying to score against the likes of Steyn, Morkel, Ajmal, Malinga, Broad, Finn etc. and then we see us bowling likes of Raina at the death  This is beyond a joke and let's address it ASAP by playing chuckers. If other countries can do so why shouldn't we?

This is what Bob Willis wants Ingerland to do.
Really :omg: If that's the case he's spot on! I mean you see your bowlers taken apart bowling the traditional way and then you see your batsmen trying to score against the likes of Ajmal who bends his elbow so much that he has to bowl in long sleeves :hysterical: Can't blame him really and I think we need to do the same ASAP else we will soon join the ranks of minnows. It's too huge a disadvantage to not look into.
