Richie Benaud's XIs - Your Favorite Team?

..and so when Richie Benaud sat down to compile his Greatest XI, he actually selected 66 shortlisted legends. These were then narrowed down to 3 teams, 33 players and the final XI off them. Here are the teams: Team A (the final one): Hobbs, Gavaskar, Bradman, Viv Richards, Tendulkar, Sobers, Imran Khan, Gilchrist, Warne, Lillee, Barnes. Team B: Hutton, Arthur Morris, Wally Hammond, Greg Chappell, Frank Worrell, Keith Miller, Richard Hadlee, Rod Marsh, Bill O Reilley, Lindwall, Trueman. Team C: Victor Trumper, Greenidge, George Headley, Graeme Pollock, Lara, Botham, Kapil Dev, Healey, Qadir, Glen Mcgrath, Larwood. Of the three, I happen to like Team C best actually, including the final XI (A). It has the right mix of style and dare-devilry. The top 5 batting line-up is as good, if not better, than other teams. Bowling wise Larwood, Qadir and Mcgrath are all characters who arent simply famous for picking wickets, folks like Trumper and Pollock mix great performance with history and romanticism of what-could-have been and just thinking of Botham and Kapil batting together gives me an orgasm, and I am not gay :--D Of the three teams which is your favorite?

Undoubtedly Team C. Greenidge, Lara, Botham ,Kapil and Glenn Mcgrath. People ask the All Time xi and all. This is the team to beat.

Team A by far. The team has too much depth inbatting as well as bowling, and Team B is the weakest of the lot. However I would have loved to see one of Holding/Marshall/Garner/McGrath/Wasim in Team A instead of Sobers. The team already has depth in batting with likes of Gilchrist and Imran, and another pacer would have been ideal.

What's there to laugh. He'll score a hundred almost every innings. Will give more than significant edge to his teams batting line up. :winky:

3 seamer + Sobers.

But Sobers wasn't a genuines wkt taker with bowling average in 30s. I would add another out and out seamer from one of the WI quartet in 80s or Wasim. The point is with likes of Bradman in the team and Gilchrist and Imran batting till 7 or 8 you would rather add another bowler to make it tougher for the opposition. Against this bowling attack they will have no breathing space.
