Exceptions are there. He can score runs anywhere' date=' but most of the time does not show the zeal and application, play rash shots and get out. Like he was doing on SA tour.[/quote'] Actually there are many examples where Sehwag is the solo scorer. But problem is a team that doesn't have even 1 bowler averaging below 30, can't be expected to win against team which has every bowler having average below 30. If PK, VK can't take wickets even on tracks like yesterday then they have no point playing for team

Yes i watch match brah that is why i made this thread. What Gayle does is that he scores nothing till 10th over and team score is 65. And he goes beserk after 10 th over. And what Sehwag does is he starts scoring from first ball itself so that by 14th over score is 130 instead of 90 which is RCB usual score. Had it not been for Deviliers Gayle would have cost RCB match against PWI too ( Nehra 23 runs )

Sehwag doesnt know if its not for Gayle RCB shouldnt have crossed 120 in any matches.. here we RCB fans struggling to imagine how can our team score above 170 with this batting line up, some one ranting about how we are not making big scores because of Gayle :hysterical:

I assume OP is referring to their approach in the t20s, that too in this edition of the IPL. Else if he watched Gayle bat last season in the IPL or generally in other t20 leagues, he wouldn't be saying he starts cautiously. Gayle was hitting 25-26 ball 50s for fun last IPL season, plus had multiple scores like 38(12), 44(16) etc. Have we forgotten the 5 4s he hit off Lee in the very first over or the 28 run 1st over vs Mumbai last season.

Jeeez 36 runs in 2 overs required. :cantstop: So i would still say this Gayle may score lots of run at good SR but eventually team will be requiring 50 runs in last 3 over. Whereas if Sehwag would stay till that many overs team would be requiring 35 runs in 4 overs.

Oh noes Gayle doesn't feature even once in top 28 fastest 50 scorer. Whereas Sehwag features 4 times. Talking of IPL only. http://www.itsonlycricket.com/entry/3151/

if OP only mentioned aproach its fine...but he then went on to say it costs team big scores in reality we are struggling to go past 150 in most matches... also i dont think Gayle is completely fit , he no longer bowls , fielding is not good and runnig between wicket is becoming worse... end of day RCB depend too much on Gayle...AB performing well i this iPL only..main problem is Kohli and Vettori dont know what to do with these 2

Don't people criticize Tendulkar despite him scoring 100. So how is Gayle different. He shouldn't take so much time to settle in.

why you bring Sachin into this discussion :hysterical: Indian team no longer depends on Sachin alone..but :rcb: still depends on Gayle... his aproach is perfectly alright seing our other batting heroes int his IPL

So Gayle fans are working in circular reasoning. They are consistently avoiding questions that Gayle takes much time to settle in and should go beserk very early. But fact is Gayle gets out by 16 th or 17 th over. So people like Deviliers, Tiwary have to start scoring from the first ball itself which ideally Gayle should have been doing.

RCB were chasing 180. What did you expect? Chase it down in 10 overs? :cantstop: Dilshan, Kohli & Agarwal combined to score a massive 29 runs off 37 balls. There goes your argument :hatsoff: Give it up...you can't convince people here that Gayle's approach is negative. RCB are losing this season coz of their bowling and inept batting barring Gayle & ABDV. FACT.

I think Deviliers has played more match winning knock than Gayle in this IPL. 1. Against DD 2. Against PWI ( Nehra) 3. And around 60 or 70 against some other team in which apanna took 4 wickets.

They required 120 runs in last 10 overs. Which means 60 runs in first 10 overs. Which is my point . Too much time to go beserk. But then you guys are working on circular reasoning. Fine

you started OP as saying Gayles aproach costs team..now you are saying AB wins more matches :dontknow: also the match where AB won against PW..its GAyle who turned match by hitting those 5 sixes in 1 over doubt any one done that during chasing a huge total also against one of the most economical bowler in IPL :winky:

You got to know something...Gayle is given a role to play - bat as long as possible and rest bat around him. That's how they have been winning matches last season and couple of ones this time. As I said in another post, the role players aka Kohli, Mayank, Tiwary and Dilshan/McD are not playing well consistently. Add to that their sub standard bowling.

Yes same team against which Sehwag chased 150 runs in 16 overs without hitting 5 sixes. :winky: MEANS 32 more required in 4 overs if they had been chasing 182. Not too difficult
