HIghways are where T20s are conduted mostly not on turning tracks. How come Malinga was shredded in T20 final by Afridi in England. Malinga's success stems from the fact lot of Indian noobs struggle to pick his hand . They need time to get used to.
Well then how come Gayle is not even in top 10 batsman of ICC T20 rankings http://www.espncricinfo.com/rankings/content/page/211270.html Gayle's success comes from the fact that he knows that there are lots of sub-standard bowlers in various domestic league. Sehwag/ Warner all can easily match Gayle if they start taking T20 seriously and stop playing other formats like Gayle.

he is not in 100 as well. Kenyan player Ontong is at 100. So you must know there must have been a mistake :cantstop: Gayle 20 matches 617 runs 32.47 avge 144.49 Strike rate

This T20 WC 2012 will prove who is the best. Almost every team is equally matched . So let's stop here. Whoever wins his team T20 WC is the best. Till now Yuvraj/Afridi/Pietersen holds this mantle.

hmm.. that is pretty generic.. in that case there won't be any meaning to this thread as both teams never won T20. And also Yuvraj didn't do anything in T20 final. It was Irfan who won the man of the match :cantstop: though i agree India without Yuvi is an useless T20 side especially outside subcontinent.

I am not saying Gayle to score runs in final. Just take his team to final is all i ask. I don't think IPL is right way to measure players because we all know about Bradman of IPL=Rohit Sharma.:giggle:

Anywho.. though i am also culprit of using interntaional matches as example. we have to agree this is IPL forum so relevance is mostly to IPl matches not even CL matches.

Winning T20 WC is lot easier than winning ODI WC . It will take just 2 to 3 good knock from a single player to win a T20 WC.
Pakistan rarely produced any magical batting performance yet they reached final twice and semi final once. Coz their strength is bowling.

Afridi and Umar Akmal batted well in T20 WC 2009 , T20 WC 2010. Not a single Indian batsman batted well in T20 WC 2009 , T20 WC 2010(except Raina)

Bhai Malinga was Man of the series in that CLT20. How can you discount that ?
everyone has his different opinions. I would pick Gayle ahead of Malinga. You want malinga bcoz he earned a man of the series award.

Mumbai batsmen have the lowest strike rate among all teams still they have won. You know why?

a tough one, but a current form gayle, has the full quota of 20 overs to play. malinga is limited to 4 overs, against good batsmen, they will just play him out. so gayle can play malinga out and gorge on the indian trundlers.

I would take Malinga... and choose Warner / Sehwag / Watson as batsmen... There are a few batsmen who are similar to Gayle , but cant think off hand of bowlers who can be like Malinga... cud choose narine, but he's a spinner :hmmm:

No brainer. Gayle can win you games even if your chasing 200+ single handedly. I doubt Malinga with his 4 overs can help a team defend a small total, say 120.

Average bowling figure of Malinga in the IPL is 4 overs 25 runs 1.5 wickets. Average batting figure of Gayle in the IPL is 48(31)

Malinga all the way. I will always go for a wkt taking bowler ahead of a batsman. The reason for that is that bowler is in the game every single match. A batsman (Gayle) may get out 1st ball but a bowler (Malinga) will always get to bowl his quota of overs.
