Quicks bowling camp By Ben Dorries August 09, 2007 AUSTRALIA is treating Twenty20 cricket so seriously, it is holding a Twenty20 masterclass for its pace bowlers in Brisbane this week. With the new season around the corner, Australia's leading quicks have started to prepare for 18 months of almost non-stop cricket featuring up to 27 Tests, 50 one-day internationals and about a dozen Twenty20 matches. In preparation, pace doctor Troy Cooley is conducting a pace camp for the next generation of quicks as well as putting national stars like Brett Lee through their strides. With no Glenn McGrath, Australia's next generation of quicks are being prepared to retain its status as the best cricket nation in the world, and leading fast bowling coaches like former Australia beanpole Bruce Reid are on hand to help out at the Brisbane pace camp. The emphasis is on unearthing techniques to help quick bowlers counter the global emergence of 20-over cricket in time for the the inaugural Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa next month. The Twenty20 coaching could pay a massive dividend if Australia accepts an offer to play in a $23 million winner-take-all Twenty20 tournament in the West Indies next year. "The theme of this camp is Twenty 20 cricket, we are really trying to develop plans to help bowlers survive in the game. It's a pretty tough one for bowlers to survive in," Cooley said. "We have been doing a lot of talking about that and we are working on some technical things as well. Last year we worked on swing bowling, this year we are working on Twenty 20." Link to comment

MundaPakistani
Good to see that most teams are taking the event seriously and this is where IND will be at a disadvantage because they will be going in to the world cup with almost zero preparation. Link to comment
King
Don't you reckon playing 7 ODIs is a much better way to prepare than not having any match practice at all? Also India will get to play couple of Twenty20s against England too. Link to comment
Cricketics
most of those players who would be playing in final 11 in 7 match odi series, aren't even in the 2020 squad.. we need to prepare definately... Link to comment

Also India will get to play couple of Twenty20s against England too. Which bowlers are common in both series apart from Chawla? Link to comment
