Ireland give Bangladesh ultimatum

Cricket Ireland have given Bangladesh until the end of the week to confirm whether they are coming to tour the country in July. CI have been attempting to finalise a tour that the Bangladesh Cricket Board had themselves requested, after the BCB found themselves without any games scheduled over the summer months. However, Setanta Sports has learned that the BCB have yet to sign off on the trip to Ireland, seven days after CI expected contracts to be exchanged. The delay has left Cricket Ireland behind schedule in their preparations, and prompted CI chief executive Warren Deutrom to make the ultimatum to the BCB. "We have told them that we must have this sorted this week," Cricket Ireland high performance director Richard Holdsworth told Setanta Sports. "Warren has indicated that we want a message by return (of post)." The Bangladeshi media have suggested that the BCB are keen to make themselves available should either Australia or England want to play Bangladesh in a one-day international (ODI) at the end of their own five-game series in June and July. However, Holdsworth thin s it is unlikely that the BCB are holding out for a game against Australia or England at the expense of the Irish. "Australia are coming over for an ODI series with England, and play Ireland before that. England have a packed programme over the summer, right up until they go to Sri Lanka for the t20 in September," Holdsworth said. "I would be very surprised if Bangladesh were able to negotiate a game with either of them - and we have had no indication that that is the case." Bangladesh are scheduled to play three ODIs with Ireland, then Mushfiqur Rahim's team will travel to Scotland to play the Scots and the Netherlands in ODIs there. The original BCB request included a four-day game against the Irish, which CI reluctantly turned down on cost grounds, but Holdsworth thinks that Bangladesh may have delayed finalising the tour to lobby for a four-day game to be slotted in at the last minute. "It is understandable, as they are coming a long way and want as much cricket as they can get. We would love to play them in a four-day game, but it does become cost prohibitive," he said. "We don't want to miss this opportunity, but they have to understand our budget. We cannot afford to overspend on these things."

Ireland confirm T20 series against Bangladesh CricketEurope 2 June 2012 Ireland will begin their preparation for the ICC World Twenty20 with a three game series against Bangladesh, who are embarking on a nine day tour of Ireland from July 13-22. The games will be played at Stormont in Belfast on July 18, 20 and 21, with a warm-up fixture against an Ireland XI taking place on Monday the 16th of July. Ireland coach Phil Simmons welcomed the fixtures saying:"It's great news that we're taking on Bangladesh and the games will give us valuable preparation as we build towards the World Cup in Sri Lanka. We played an exciting brand of cricket in winning the recent qualifying tournament in Dubai and we're now 8th in the world rankings in this format of the game. In Paul Stirling we have one of the most exciting players in international cricket at present and I'm sure the Belfast public will relish the opportunity to watch him on home soil." Cricket Ireland CEO Warren Deutrom said: "We are delighted to be able to bring more top quality cricket to Ireland. Hosting matches against the Full Member countries is exactly what we are striving for and this summer proves we are on the right track with matches against Australia, South Africa A, Afghanistan and now Bangladesh. "I would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the ICC High Performance Programme and to ICC Europe for their financial support in helping make these matches come to fruition. "In addition, this is the first time ever we are playing T20I matches at home against a Test nation, and we fully intend to play the games at a time and a price to suit the post-work and weekend crowd." Shakib Al Hasan, the world's number one ranked Test and ODI all-rounder is relishing the opportunity to face Ireland saying: "We are always looking for tough challenges as professional cricketers and I am sure the tour of Ireland would test our skills and resolve. This will be wonderful preparations for both teams heading into the ICC World T20. "Ireland are a very competitive side and in their conditions they will be formidable. However, we have a team that is brimming with confidence. We have proven match winners and some fresh faces who are tailor-made for the demands of T20 cricket. This promises to be an exciting contest. "I love coming to Ireland. It's a beautiful place with a growing cricket following. This tour should be another stepping stone for popularising the game there and I am very happy to be playing a part in it." The sides have met just once in this format of the game, during the group stages of the ICC World Twenty20 at Trent Bridge in 2009, a game which Ireland won by six wickets. Bangladesh have brought back allrounder Shakib Al Hasan and medium-pacer Shafiul Islam to their squad for the Twenty20 matches in Ireland and the Netherlands in July. Teenage batsman Anamul Haque and allrounder Farhad Reza are the omissions from the squad that failed to make the final of the Twenty20 tri-series in Zimbabwe. Shakib had been rested for the tri-series. Akram Khan, Bangladesh's chief selector, said Anamul had been left out so he could focus on the upcoming Under-19 World Cup in Australia this August. "He [Anamul Haque] has a lot of time and I think if he plays in the age-level World Cup, it will bring more maturity to his game," Akram said. Anamul scored only 16 runs in three matches during the T20s in Harare. Shafiul returned to the side after being sidelined by a shoulder injury he sustained during the Asia Cup in March. "We have always maintained that we are not in favour of major changes in the team," Akram said. "Shafiul is one of our first-choice pace bowlers so his return will be a boost." The tour begins with a three-match series against Ireland between July 18 and 21 in Belfast. The second leg is at The Hague, where Bangladesh play Scotland on July 24 and Netherlands on July 25. It will be Bangladesh's second preparatory tour ahead of the World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka in September. Fair point..we've be crappy outside of India. :(( As for the Bangies, could be a 3-0 loss and some embarrassment

Bangladesh are minnows, and their job is to improve every match.....u cant say that about India.....India r giants.....they're suppose to win and they're not! so before opening mouths, think about ur own team please!
