seedhi Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Commendable progress by BJP ruled states in general, esp Gujarat in reducing malnutrition amongst children. Maharashtra also did very well. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Images/Popup/2013/10/07_10_pg9a.jpg

People earning 11 and 17 each daily in rural and urban areas resp. are not considered poor. 3. pathetic adult nutrition and healthcare records. This after 12 yr rule of Modi. randomGuy Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 ........ Further when the mid-day meal arrived, the minister was shocked to see the torn seal of the packaged food. "The food was supposed to seal-packed but the seal was torn and the quality of the food was very bad," said Deshmukh. Sisodia found the 'dal'(lentil soup) unfit for consumption. Following this, he asked the Education department to send a show-cause notice to the NGO 'Stri Shakti' which provides the mid-day meal to the school, and asked it to reply within three days, the East Delhi Municipal Corporation said in a statement today. randomGuy Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 it has come down significantly from 64% to 35% in 5 years.compare that to any state. 34% is still very bad. It was 70% in 2006-07 which was still 4-5 years into his govt. Also, poverty numbers , Human development index etc for gujarat are very bad.

Also, poverty numbers , Human development index etc for gujarat are very bad. it is poor but compare that to other states, its not that bad..regardless,i think the figures have come down significantly so i'll give him the benefit that its a work in progress.. the HDI is pretty low (iirc gujarat is 11th on that indicator) and i remember i had a conversation with DM on this thread regarding it in the planning commissions report.modi needed to improve on that.but he has done a good job overall be it electricity, power, roads etc.. i have been to gujarat myself and honestly the state has flourished a lot

randomGuy Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Check this out - http://planningcommission.nic.in/news/pre_pov2307.pdf Poverty in gujarat is 16.6% In Maharashtra its 17.5%, WB its 19.9, Uttarakhand its 11.2, Haryana its 11%, Punjab its 8.2%, Karnataka its 20.9, TN its 11.2, Kerala its 7%, Rajasthan its 14.6. And if we see the malnutrition and HDI, we will find that Guj. is doing even worse than its poverty figures.
