Narendra Modi just established himself as the BJP's candidate for PM - some of the allies (like JDU) and a certain section of the society (including me) may not like it but now its inevitable. There's very high probability that within the next few days he will be given a national role....

There goes BJPs chances... Great opportunity for Congress to snatch JDU from NDA.
now the only thing Kaangress needs to do is to put Rahul Baba in a room, lock the room and put the key away till the Lok Sabha elections are over because the only reason why a Modi hater will still vote for him is if he/she sees Rahul Baba as the alternative :giggle:

Not happening. They will put Advani up this time. Get Modi slowly into the fold if they win the next election

I think Modi will go into the elections as the Head of the BJP Election Campaign Committee but if the results are good then the PM will be a consensus candidate (most probably Advani or maybe even Jaitley). Modi may jump up and down as much as he wants from now till the elections but he doesn't seem to realize that he is still anathema to many coalition partners.

Modi goes ahead again with personal attacks on the PM and the Gandhi family. I dont see the need for this, last time BJPs campaign completely backfired when they personaly attacked Sonia Gandhi and Singh

I don't think BJP will announce Modi as the PM candidate either. Rather they will use him as a sniper to fire up the base and lure Congressis to the pit. In the end, if BJP wins, I would be satisfied with Modi given the Home ministry (he is the only guy who can make the hard decisions regarding security). As for the PM, only Sushmaji (only slightly) stands out from the national leadership (can't stand Jaitley).

(the incumbent has set the standards really low... actually even my pet will do a better job than him) but I wonder about the part regarding Mr. Jaitley... Y do u dislike (or cant stand) him I actually think he's pretty well read, n understands the nuances of economics, internatonal affairs, security etc n doesnt put his foot in the mouth unlike so many leaders (cutting across party lines)

Too harsh I suppose. Maybe I should have said that I don't trust him. To me, he seems like a closet congressi. Ever wonder why BJP didn't (couldn't) hold Congress' feet to the fire for the last 4 years in face of all the scams? You can dock SS on that as well but in Lok Sabha, NDA's numbers are weaker than in Rajya Sabha (not that they have a strong size here but it is still something).

I dont see the need for this' date=' last time BJPs campaign completely backfired when they personaly attacked Sonia Gandhi and Singh[/quote'] much as I hate Modi, I think he wasn't wrong in attacking the Gandhi family for making the Congress a private limited company where the ownership is passed on from one generation to the next irrespective of whether the person is up to the task of managing the country (or the party for that matter) or not. What I currently see is that Rahul Gandhi has been in politics for the last 10 years and has 0 days of administrative experience, 0 examples of policies brought forward by him, 0 examples of positive leadership shown by him in any elections and yet he is the de-facto PM candidate while in the BJP there are leaders like Modi, Jaitley, Swaraj, LK Advani - all with substantial experience and a proven track record - fighting in order to become the PM candidate so its only natural that they become even more hostile against the family where you get to become the PM candidate just by having a surname.

Actually others are jumping up and down more than Modi. I think he knows his time hasn't come yet. Some ground work is required. Consensus can be built around Advani.

Or maybe they just believe that in a democracy you can't hang people just because you "feel" he / she is guilty. Maybe they believe in due process for what its worth

Narendra Modi's electoral performance can be summed up thus: He has lost BJP two seats since 1998 elections and gained about 3% of votes. If this performance makes Narendra Modi BJP's choice for the prime ministership then Congress need not worry.
