There is of course a strong anti-congress sentiment, that was fuelled initially by the scams, CAG, IAC, etc. If Modi wasn't heading the BJP, I believe AAP would have been the major beneficiary of this anti-congress sentiment in the coming LS elections. Regarding a Modi wave: I would say that the country has been divided into two. People who are being swept by, or are riding the Modi wave, and others who are creating Dams to contain the wave. Given Modi's reputation and his lack of acceptance among the 15-20% of India's Muslims, the BJP would find crossing 272 very difficult irrespective of a wave, which wasn't the case with Congress in 2009.
brah, this is politics.wait till nda gets 225 odd seats and watch how different parties ally with them.when phsecularists like paswan can join them, guys like pawar gave modi clean chit, its more than possible that they'll form the govn.. i remember how some icfers called out for modi's head when his name was announced for the PM candidate, man ywere critical and predicted bjp wont even get 170,nitish is gone (20 MPs) who will fullfill them, forget the allies and such BS but it all changed..thats the dynamics of indian politics, people change, equations change so quickly!!

There is little doubt that BJP supports dynasty politics as much as Congress. They gave tickets to Poonam Mahajan, Varun Gandhi, Raman Singh's son, Kalyan Singh's son, Yashwant Sinha's son, Sahib Singh Verma's son. They just try to hoodwink people by saying they are party with difference but they are same. Same indicators you would see on candidates with criminal background or corruption background. That's why I am surprised why people so gung-ho about Modi becoming PM. Only difference there would be, abhi Kalmadi ne paisa khaya, phir Gadkari khayega.

Exit polls: UPA’s economic scorecard shows why Sensex favours BJP http://www.firstbiz.com/money/exit-polls-upas-economic-scorecard-shows-why-sensex-favours-bjp-51336.html

The upbeat reaction of equity, currency and bond markets to exit polls for four States and one Union Territory that went for elections in November and December 2013 suggest that the markets favour a change at the centre. The Sensex and Nifty gained 1.5%, the Indian Rupee (INR) gained over 0.5% and bond yields fell 3bps on news of exit polls predicting wins for the main opposition party at the centre, the BJP across the States. Markets must have a reason to cheer opposition victory. The UPA came into power in May 2004, retained power in May 2009 and will vie for a third consecutive term in May 2014. Is the economic scorecard of the UPA so poor that markets want a change? Markets are highly capitalistic in nature and ignore people driven issues such as basic infrastructure, corruption and law and order. In fact at one point of time the markets were the biggest cheerleaders of the UPA government, taking Sensex and Nifty to record highs and the INR to multi year highs against the USD. Let us look at the economic scorecard of the UPA in the ten years (2004-05 to 2013-14) that they ran the economy. On the GDP growth the ten year average growth rate was 7.63% (assuming 5% growth for fiscal 2013-14) while the previous ten years showed a growth rate of 6.2%. On the growth front the UPA has done well though the sharp fall in growth from 9.6% in 2006-07 to 5% in 2013-14 is going against them suggesting that UPA growth policies were not sustainable in nature. Representational Image. Reuters On the deficits front, fiscal deficit has increased from 4.35% of GDP in 2003-04 to 4.8% of GDP in 2013-14. High GDP growth has not translated into improved public finances. However, the current account deficit (CAD) has deteriorated sharply from a surplus of 2.3% of GDP in 2003-04 to a deficit of around 3.3% of GDP in 2013-14. CAD had touched record highs of 4.8% of GDP in 2012-13. The clear lack of focus on subsidies has led to a deteriorating current account deficit. Subsidies as a percentage of GDP have gone up from 1.7% of GDP to well over 2% of GDP. The UPA has been an absolute disaster on the inflation front. Wholesale Price Inflation has gone up from below 5% levels to double digit levels before trending down to 6.5% levels during the 10 year UPA rule. Consumer price inflation has averaged 9.5% over the last five years. The rate of inflation may show ups and downs year on year but the fact is that there is a continuous rise in prices in the economy and this hurts all aspects of the economy including growth. High inflation has led to rising asset prices. The Sensex and Nifty have gone up by around 17% CAGR over the ten year UPA rule period while real estate prices have touched bubble like proportions rising multifold over the period. Gold prices have rise 5 times over the last ten years. The reality check to the rise in value of equities, real estate and gold is the fall of over 30% in the value of the INR and the 350bps rise in yields on the ten year government bond. Clearly markets are unappreciative of the rise in asset prices due to inflation and that is seen in the clear thumbs down to UPA by currency and bond markets. On an overall basis, despite GDP growth and rise in value of asset prices, the UPA government performance has been well below par on all counts. Markets want a government that could improve the overall performance of the economy.

Both Congress/BJP do not have transparent electoral funding. For all we know, the same corp honchos which were behind Congress earlier would be channeling funds to the BJP. A change of government on paper but similar outcome.

Exposed: Narendra Modi’s tall claims are all lies - http://www.india.com/election-2014/exposed-narendra-modis-tall-claims-are-all-lies-22268/ As always, I expect only silence from Modi fans on such an article...
Just reading the first one
1. Ticket to Criminal Candidates : A report in Hindu says that 57 members of Gujarat cabinet have criminal cases on them. Well, I seriously don’t understand how my India will shine under criminal candidates. Can BJP stop giving tickets to criminals ? if yes, then I can think to vote for them.
Have any been convicted?. And besides now conviction will lead to automatic loss of seat. And which party in India has no MLAs or MPs with criminal cases on them?

I know of at least one serving in the cabinet of Gujarat who has been convicted. I'd agree that mere criminal cases are part of political vendetta and that'd be too much to ask for. But, with regards to automatic loss of seat - why wait for the SC to intervene? Development can't happen by sitting in convicted MPs nor could it happen by rewarding cabinet ministry berths to people like Maya Kodnani.

2 . Right to Information Act (RTI) - RTI activists in Gujarat are suffering , their RTI Applications are not responded and thousands of RTI applications are pending. Gujarat RTI Activists Association, which has around 5,000 members, says that there are around 14,000 RTI applications pending at different stages in various departments of the state government. According to them, these RTIs can expose Corruption on larger scale. So stopping an RTI and Modi ji wants India to be like USA, no that is not possible if you stop the Right To Information for your citizens. Apart from this , why Modi has to keep tainted minister in his Cabinet? Many RTI activists have received threats to life , RTI Activist Amit Jethwa was murdered and BJP MP Dinu Bogha Solanki has been held . Freedom of knowledge and Free Speech which can threaten the govt is silenced . BJP MP arrested for RTI Activists Murder
Hard to comment on the backlog of RTI without a comparison to how responses in other states fair. The murderers of RTI activtist Jethwa have been arrested, and the BJP MP has been barred from taking part in politics. So not sure what more Modi could have done. The law took it's course. Which is more than what goes on in states like Kerala, UP, West Bengal or Bihar. For fecks sake, the Communist Parties of Kerela and WB even have party mandate saying it is okay to take illegal action for political gains.

4. No Riots after 2002: Narendra Modi ji has claimed Many times that there are no riots in Gujarat after 2002, any intelligent person would try to do a re-search on this claim . No Riots in Gujarat in Last 12 years – Modi Facts : Large scale riots happened within Vadodara in 2006 (no coincidence that next Gujarat elections were in 2007), Apart from that, regular stream of incidences involving arson, stone-pelting, stabbing, lynching etc kept on happening regularly all over Gujarat – Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Dohad, Veraval etc. References: 1. Vadodara: Centre sends para-military help (2006). 2. Delhi-wary Modi calls in the army. Modi calls Army. Apart from these there are many riots which I am listing below for reference. So, its very normal to be rioting in any place of India and Gujarat is no-different. 3.11 hurt in Communal Clashes in Rajkot 4. Curfew in Parts of Dahod After Clash 5. 26 shops Gutted in Kodinar Violence 6. Violence in Gujarat town,3 dead 7. Three Die in Vadodra Clashes 2004 8. Gomtipur Violence 9. 30 people hurt in Clashes between Hindus and Muslims in Ahemdabad,2006 10. Tension Brews Violence spreads to Kalupur- 2010 Either I am wrong or Mr modi forgets deaths of people so easily.
This statement is already considered to be full of sh!t, and bas been already been torn apart on a previous ICF thread. :((

I believe he should have and would be. In any case, he now knows about Babu Bokharia's involvement. He also knows about Vitthalbhai Hansrajbhai Radadiya gun-toting at a toll booth attendant. Modi gave him a free pass to join the BJP as well as offered him a ticket in the LS by-polls. Even his son was given an Assembly ticket by the BJP. On one hand rip apart dynasty politics but on the other encourage the same in your party.

:hysterical::hysterical: with the kind of administrator Modi is, I can bet he would be even knowing when and after eating what his ministers fart.

All that has been acknowledged is that "Politicians exaggerate and so does Modi" (Re: Khalpat etc.) In any case, the moment someone says "Riot Free since 2003" all it needs is to prove one evidence of riots happening and the Vadodara 2006 riots is enough to prove Modi's statement was incorrect and an exaggeration.

None of them were riots, just minor scuttles. Read up on Gujarat's history with riots. First time in it's short history it has gone a decade without riots leading curfews for days and animosity between Hindus and Muslims for weeks.
