Sidhoni Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Solid start for our pair. Bopanna/Bhupathi with 6-0, 7-6 IN ROUND 1 of Wimbledon Mens Doubles. Good luck to them for 2ND ROUND. Crookbond Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Leander Paes confirms participation in London Olympics He will partner with Vishnu Vardhan Paes, set to make a record sixth Olympic appearance, said he would look to help Vardhan, who would be making Games' debut in London. "I don't even know if he has grass-court shoes. So it's a bit of a tough one. But he's a really good kid, I'm happy to play with him. "Whatever the obstacles are, which I see are going to be many -- he's never been to Wimbledon before -- whatever I can do as an experienced professional athlete to help my partners out, I do," he said. http://ibnlive.in.com/news/paes-confirms-participation-in-london-olympics/268469-5-22.html
Crookbond Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Vardhan takes Paes' 'grass-court shoe' comment in stride On Paes' comment that he was not sure 'if he (Vardhan) had grass court shoes', the Vardhan said, "May be he wants me to be ready, equipment wise, before the Games. I think he is concerned and just wants to make sure that I am ready." http://www.hindustantimes.com/sports-news/Tennis/Vardhan-takes-Paes-grass-court-shoe-comment-in-stride/Article1-880851.aspx
saneindian Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 22 years, national flag, blood and sweat for the country and then in the same vein, you talk so lowly about a fellow with whom you are going to play? Well done Leander, am a huge fan of him but have lost a lot of respect after his condescending attitude for a young player. Just not on.
Sidhoni Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 WTF Leander!! Saying things like these in media..!?
Needforspeed Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 WTF Leander!! Saying things like these in media..!? Maybe he is misinterpreted by the media.. :dontknow:
Crookbond Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Maybe he is misinterpreted by the media.. :dontknow: It is exactly what has happened. Leander meant if Vishnu Vardhan could play swiftly on grass courts and that's that.

bihutoli Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 good thing the AITA banned that bhupati paes is 10 times the player and person bhupati could ever be, so good on him. Did that happen? Won't mind it happening to that snake though!
Crookbond Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 good thing the AITA banned that bhupati paes is 10 times the player and person bhupati could ever be, so good on him. Somehow this guy looks like the AITA chief. He couldn't ban Bhupathi and hence, he's venting out his frustration here.
Needforspeed Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Sania and Bhupathi Lose in the second round at Wimbledon : The fifth seeded Indian pair hardly put up a fight against the unseeded Paul Hanley and Alla Kurdryavtseva the Australian-Russian combine losing 3-6, 1-6 in 50 minutes. Later in the day, Paes and Stepanek beat Israel's Andy Ram and Jonathan Elrich 6-2, 6-4, 7-6 to reach the 3rd round.
jhakati Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 bhupati and sania crashed out in straight sets :hysterical:

Swing_n_Speed Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 It is exactly what has happened. Leander meant if Vishnu Vardhan could play swiftly on grass courts and that's that. Why is Vardhan a clay court player?
The Dark Horse Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Vardhan takes Paes' 'grass-court shoe' comment in stride http://www.hindustantimes.com/sports-news/Tennis/Vardhan-takes-Paes-grass-court-shoe-comment-in-stride/Article1-880851.aspx Thats a hurting and unprofessional comment made at a rising young sportsperson. Hope he does well and proves him wrong.
yoda Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 LOL@people laughing at Bhupathi and Sania. They just won the french open you bozos. Even Nadal is out of Wimbledon. I would rather them win a few than just going through more rounds.
Crookbond Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Why is Vardhan a clay court player? He's a very hard working player. But, according to NDTV he's a B.Com. in Computer Science

I would rather them win a few than just going through more rounds. Herd mentality, dude. If people side with Bhupathi, they will not have things to bond over. They will fail in showing how "cool" they are. Its a shame.
