definately.. But even with good roads without traffic sense or driving skills its useless. Picture this..I recently went from Ahmedabad to Surat. Ahmedabad to Barado, there is experessway about 90 km, took me only 45 mins. from baroda to Surat there is 6 track highway (yes 6 track), 160 odd kms it took me 3 hours...even though its 6 track, one track totally occupied by 2 wheelers and 3 wheeler and other two lanes, this slow truck drivers use it...instead of using other two slower lanes...There are clear instruction for them not to use right most lane...

Roads in Gujarat and (northern) Karnataka are quite good. At par with what I've seen outside India. The Mumbai Goa road has really gone to the dogs. The road used to be scenic and was always a fun drive. But over the last few years the traffic on that road has increased exponentially and the road is also in a state of neglect. And with the monsoons looming it will only get worse. :((

Roads are good in most part of Gujarat with few exceptions...We just don't know how to manage traffic....
I'd take that for the rest of the country really.
